“Golfers paradise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2014

The Lodge is stunning, the Golf Courses spectacular, and the closeness to all amenities makes this a must place to stay. We had our own rental vehicle which made getting around San Diego very easy.
Restaurant was excellent. Goid value for money and great service. I played the South course, a memoranle experience. Immaculate course and breath taking views.
Pro shop and reception service was average as was concierge. I'd suggest some good engagement training for these areas.
Driving range was first class. Room was comfortable. Paladaide Suite looking over the 18th green. Room 413. Stunning.

This is a very nice hotel- in an interesting Craftsman style-a woodsy retreat in the middle of coastal southern california. The rooms are quite nice, and most have balconies (do check that before booking). I have found that the room prices fluctuate fairly wildly- and always in obvious ways- perhaps there are so many events in the area, and conferences, etc that at times they can really charge pretty high. Other times, including what seem like great times of year, you will find very attractive deals. If you can arrange your trip to get a good deal, by all means pull the trigger. But if the prices seem exhorbitant, don't assume "that's just what you have to pay" and check other options.

Room Tip: Try to get a higher floor room with a balcony.

Spent a long weekend here with my husband. The staff is courteous and professional. The lodge is lovely. We used the fitness center and the pool - both are well-equipped and maintained. We ate every night at the grill - nice service and we liked most everything we ordered. The room was clean, quiet and plush. The layout of the hotel is a little quirky and the hole in the shower door was odd, but these were minor in comparison to all the pleasant accommodations. Also, play croquet - it's fun.

We are enjoying a wonderful stay. The staff couldn't be more helpful. The location is perfect and there is a state preserve next to this lodge. Although my husband is the golf enthusiast I am loving our time here.

Room was dark and depressing. The balcony is very nice and roomy! We ordered room service one morning and they set it up on our balcony. Service great everywhere except at restaurant by club house. The blonde manager was extremely rude and unprofessional. I won't return because of her.

Loved staying here. The staff is great and we ate at the golf course grill mostly and food was good. We spent a lot of time just walking around looking at the structure and the gardens. The golf course was amazing and we had a beautiful view from our room. I cannot wait to stay here again. Even watching the Navy jets overhead was fun. Our room had Mahogany furniture and was amazing.

Room Tip: High floor with view of golf course. You don't want an "inside" garden view.

The Lodge was amazing - what was more amazing was the staff. (The staff of an establishment can make or break an event). We had a Firm Retreat for 250 people, flying in from 5 different offices on three separate dates; the staff was attentive, prompt and courteous. The veiws on the property spectacular, the pool and spa relaxing, the food delicious and the hiking down to the beach wonderful. The feedback I received from my group was they want to go back! I stayed on two additional days to enjoy the property. I will be back!
