“Excellent value for room and location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013 via mobile

We booked this room through a third party website(Priceline) for a awesome price. It was worth every penny and then some. Right next to mall with a great food Terrence. Also close to everything in la jolla. Staff was friendly.

The staff at this hotel are awesome. Front desk staff (Geoff, Theresa and Will) and Concierge Lounge (Amanda) treat you like family. They all care that your stay is enjoyable.

The newly remodeled gym is a joy to work out in. The remodel is beautiful.

The reason I can only give this hotel 4 stars is because they do not have a hot tub. During the remodel they eliminated the sauna and hot tub. In my opinion, how can a hotel be considered a resort or full service hotel and not have a hot tub for your guests?

Room Tip: All the rooms have been remodeled, I haven't stayed in a bad room.

Hello Dan G!

Thank you for your kind words for our team! We are all very excited about our renovation but I know that some of our guests do miss the hot tub. We certainly enjoy having you as our guest and your feedback is very much appreciated!

We used Hotwire to book this 4-star hotel, and expected it to cater only to the business client, but we were pleasantly surprised by all it offered vacation travelers. The lobby includes an indoor-outdoor bar with a large, gorgeous sit-around fire pit on the patio side, plus tables and comfortable sitting areas warmed by attractive space heaters on cool nights. Drinks are served with snack foods or even complete meals, including a quite good ribeye dinner. The second-floor pool area has comfortable chaise lounge chairs and tables with umbrellas, towels for use, and music played through speakers. Next to the pool area is the well-equipped gym. On Wednesday and Friday evenings salsa lessons are taught free to guests in the La Jolla Social room just off the lobby. Just around the block from the hotel are Einstein Brothers Bagels, Starbucks, a Sushi/BBQ restaurant and a frozen yogurt parlor. Just a mile or so down the road is a shopping area with a grocery store, restaurants, and boutiques. The hotel's central location is great for hopping onto nearby main roads and highways to local attractions. Our ninth-floor room was spacious, tastefully decorated with modern amenities, and had a small balcony with a sliding glass door. It overlooked the bar's patio and the attractive green space with an Italian-style fountain between two office buildings, so the view was pleasant and the room was quiet. The staff was friendly, attentive and helpful. We would definitely stay there again.

I stay in a LOT of hotels, and a LOT of Marriotts. I've stayed in several Marriotts around San Diego, but this one really stands out. I was here for two nights -- exceptionally friendly folks from the moment I drove up. I was lucky enough to eat in the executive lounge, and the food was surprisingly good with very attentive staff. The lobby area has apparently been recently made-over, with great results -- lots of open space. Much nicer than the typical Marriott.

Room Tip: I was on the 11th floor. The Executive Lounge (often called Concierge Lounge) is on the 15th. If y...

This hotel is in the mall area near UTC and just past the UCSD medical center. Therefore this is not a beach resort but the high rooms offer nice (though small) balconies with views over to the last set of hills before the Pacific. The pool is small but pleasant. The rooms are well kept. Service is good. Parking is a bit expensive ($20 self) but not hard to park a block or 2 away on street.

Room Tip: high up facing west

I thought the service at this hotel was amazing. Housekeeping was quick with getting out extra blanket, the check in process was very efficient and fast and valet had our car ready when we wanted. I also thought the breakfast buffet was a great value Saturday morning. It's a very clean hotel also. I do wish hotels had 2 queens instead of doubles. Our growing family is too big for doubles now. That is my only complaint. I highly recommend this hotel other than that.

The Marriott in La jolla is located in the business district of the La Jolla area. Easily accessible to a Westerfield shopping center. There is access to plenty of good shopping and restaurants. Its also very conveniently located off Interstate 5.

The hotel staff is very polite and courteous, rooms are fairly average but neat, clean and comfortable.

Lobby is newly renovated.

most of the guests are there on business and being located in the heart of the business district it is a perfect venue for businss travelers.

If you are looking for a hotel that is more family oriented or closer to some La Jolla downtown area shops, restuarnats and galleries, this location is not the best choice.

nice hotel, courteous staff best suited for business travelers!

Room Tip: Hotel rooms are noisy, hotel located on corner of main roadways. Get rooms facing the inner courtya...
