“Love this place. Sunny day must! ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2014

We came for drink in the evening. Bar was full but service was great - attentive and friendly and got us seats. We had two glasses of wine and the bartenders took our pictures. They were super nice. Can't wait to go back! The view is amazing.
I've been here before and had a great experience then too.

“Outstanding!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2014

We had lunch out on the terrace, which overlooks the cove. The food was excellent and so was the service. It's a bit pricy for lunch but on occasion it's worth it.

“Excellent view, very good food but a very inflexible manager!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2014

We (party of four) went to George's for lunch and I agree that the view from the rooftop restaurant is spectacular. We also liked the food very much (we tried the fish tacos, the "cuban" and the fish sandwich. For dessert we had chocolate cake and the walnut tart.
Only problem was dealing with a very inflexible manager. After waiting in the bar for a table in the shade we were seated in a partially covered table. After we ordered, but before we were served, a table with full shade became available and was empty.I asked the waiter if we could move. He checked with the manager and to my surprise and disappointment the manager told me he could not move us because their policy is not to allow moves after you are seated.????? We again expressed our surprise and disappointment but decided to stay at our table. The waiters (a young man on his second day as waiter and his trainee) were very nice and gave us their apologies for not being able to comply with our request. Their service was good as they tried to make up for the inexplicable decision by their boss.
So, the moral of the story is :if you go for lunch and want a table in the shade make sure you are happy when you seat down because they will not allow you to move after you are seated!!!

“So. Much. Fun.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2014

George's at the Cove has excellent food, service, atmosphere and is a great place to unwind after a fun day in La Jolla/San Diego area! When you make reservations ask to sit by the glass upstairs so you can make sure to have a view. We went at 8:15 so we missed sunset but still had a blast.

“Superb food in a sophisticated setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2014

We ate at George's California Modern on the lowest floor. We were able to be seated at a window table and enjoyed a spectacular view. The food was stunningly good and the service was polished but casual and friendly. The cocktails were just right and sophisticated fairly priced wines by the glass, with decent pours, are available. As appetizers we ate grilled spot prawns which we were told were just in season. These were the best prawns I have ever eaten, anywhere. I had a fish entree and my wife enjoyed a meat dish, both excellent. A perfect desert and decaf finished the experience.
The downstairs is sophisticated casual and patrons were mostly casual well dressed. Prices are not cheap but reasonable given the high quality.
The upper levels are more casual in appearance but still enjoy great views. The patrons upstairs were younger, upscale casual in appearance, not a dirty T shirt in sight.
This is truly a special spot in an area with lots of outstanding food.
