Description: Manhattan of La Jolla transports you to the best of New York via the cozy, upscale village of La Jolla. Located in the Empress Hotel on Fay Avenue, it is an elegant, casual and classy place where you would expect to see Old Blue Eyes or Danny Ocean romancing a beautiful woman while she sips her Cosmo over dinner. With quality Italian charm, Manhattan offers classic cocktails that get you into that New York swing--and the entrees are as good as it gets. Liberal olive oil, garlic, lemon and pepper complement the Zagat Award winning veal chop, steaks and seafood. Signature scampi, classic cannelloni, pasta al dente, and other succulent dishes, plus professional service and decor make this a terrific spot for a romantic dinner or mixing business and pleasure. Manhattan in La Jolla gets you the best of both worlds. Manhattan is an award winning La Jolla favorite, celebrating its 25th year.

“Oops, no training here”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2012

WE RAN after the appetizer and before ordering dinner. I Dropped my napkin on floor and waiter picked it up and gave it back to me. The Ceasar Salad Guy was delivering someone's gravy boat with his thumb in the spout instead of on a plate or held by the handle. Menu wasn't impressive with level of difficulty. Beef carpaccio was covered in bland/old spring onions. Very Strange indeed.

“The perfect combination of flavor and ambiance!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2012

After searching tons of restaurants and reviews i chose manhatten for the second dinner of our two-day trip. It couldnt have been more perfect! We had an ocean view w seafood the first night so i wasn't concerned about view. This old school, mafia feel italian restaurant was so intimate. My boyfriend and i shared two dishes after an amazing ceasar salad. We got the clam linguine w white sauce which he practically licked the plate the sauce was so good and my fav of the two, the penne con mushroom and artichoke. I dont usually like garlic but this sauce was so stinkin good i didnt care how i would smell later! :). Loved our sweetheart waiter too! I made my reservation online and they were waiting for us w a perfect booth w a view of the whole room. Missed out on the piano music tho. Im picky about italian food. I like fresh and authentic, sorry olive garden.

“Great food with a great atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2012

I went to Manhattans with a few girlfriends and enjoyed great food, great service, and had a great time. We started off with the calamari, which was cooked perfectly. Most places use too much breading on the calamari, but this calamari was perfect! Then I got the garlic and lemon salmon, which was even more amazing. It was cooked to perfection and I could tell it was fresh. The service was great as well, they were very attentive and made great cocktail suggestions. To end our already amazing experience my girlfriends and I all decided to split the Mud Pie and Creme Brulee....Delicious!! If you want some great food with a great atmosphere Manhattans is the place to go!!

“Wow!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2012

Just a few friends getting together to "catch up" with one another and our busy lives...sat in the bar area of this very stylish restaurant that's tucked inside the Empress Hotel. Three of the four of us had never been here before. That will change. We had drinks and appetizers and eventually, at the excellent suggestion of our attentive waitress, we ordered a pizza to share and wished we'd ordered TWO! Food was excellent....really really excellent! The only thing better than the food was the service. Never once did any of us have to "look" for our waitress. The restaurant itself has a very cozy decor and we all commented on how relaxing the place made us feel. We couldn't hang out to hear the live music later in the evening, but we'll be back soon.
