“Celebrity Chef Delivers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

Beautiful restaurant filled with beautiful people. We ordered the tasting menu consisting of three courses We ordered the octopus, which was delicious and a beautiful presentation. Short ribs and Scallops. The short ribs were so tender and the sauce was rich. The scallops were big.. ( three). the half baked chocolate cake was to die for. These foodies will definitely be back.

“Awesome short ribs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

Came here one year with the gals for restaurant week and was surprised at the quality of the food and wine. I ordered the short ribs and am still thinking about them. I have to say there are really just a few restaurants in LJ that I would even bother with and this is one of them.

“Elegant and relaxed athmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2013

I visited San Diego amd La Jolla last weekend and stopped for lunch at the 9-10. I must admit that from the outside it looks like a hole in the wall but as I entered through the hotel lobby, I realized that they also had a quaint little patio on the other side of the lobby, looking at the small pool but not too close. The personnel was very accomodating since we were late and they were already setting the tables for dinner. The waiter, Angel, was attentive but not overbearing and had a pleasant and distinguished attitude.
I had the harissa grilled shrimps, lightly spicy and bursting of mediterranean flavours and my husband had theHouse Smoked Salmon with fried capers and a light and delicious vinaigrette.
For wine we had a bottle of l'ecole, a french name for a Washington state wine who was duly served in a chiller and the waiter didn't try to empty the full content of the bottle in our glasses!
A very agreable stop, a hidden gem I must say.

“Nine Ten in the Grande Colonial Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2013

Upon reading the reviews, it seems as though two different restaurants are being confused. Nine-Ten, located in the Grande Colonial Hotel, is an excellent restaurant. We had both dinner and breakfast at Nine-Ten and both were perfection. The service was excellent. The waiters are extremely well-informed about the wine list and ingredients in each dish. The short ribs are delicious ... tender and flavorful and inventively presented with broccoli, cippolini onions and black garlic. The chicken was also perfection served with butternut squash puree, farro, and cippolini onions. This will be a regular stop for us whenever we are in La Jolla ... a very special dining experience!
