“Nice little Italian spot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2014

I travel and eat out a lot. La Dolce Vita is a solid performer. Simple things that make a good restaurant...prompt, knowledgeable service, bus person minds waters and clear plates at the right time, home baked hot bread, good menu variety. I popped in for a quick meal by myself. Caesar salad and Penne alla Vodka with chicken added. Salad was cold...great start. Pasta was hot...score. Pasta was really good...didn't need the chicken added because the chunks of prosciutto were meaty and added plenty of flavor. Mix of families, foreign tourists and locals. Not grand cuisine, but fairly priced, comfortable seating (inside and out), and well made food. Did I mention I thought the Penne was superb?

“Best in town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2014

Service was wonderful. Enzo is a great host and his home made wine is the best. Don't miss it. The atmosphere is wonderful, especially in the evening. We had a rehersal dinner there and couldn't be happier.

“Wine, Warmth.....and Song !?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2014

A short, but energizing walk up the stairs from La Jolla Cove Suites and a left down Prospect street, is La Dolce Vita. It's right across street from Georges in a plaza.
Our first night in San Diego and we found a good Barbera Barolo, the 2005 was out of our price range, but the 2010 was less than half and went perfect with my fresh Arugula and Prosciutto Pizza. My wife's Cannelloni was excellent.
One of the highlights seemed to be open mike for Italian songs. We were amazed at the two women alternating Italian Operatic solo's and the host was singing in turn too. On a cool night last evening we had warm heaters, good wine, and homey terrace vibe with Classic Italian meals.
Great place!

“Fabulous, in the Sicilian style”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2014

Wonderful little bistro in La Jolla. Our waiter was very knowledgable about the food and it's preparation, and the food was amazing. I had the fettucini bolognese and was surprised, but delighted that it was a very light tomato sauce, and not the heavy tomato cream sauce usually made for this dish. When I asked about it, the waiter said the chef/owner is from Sicily, where they don't use cream. It was amazing…I literally cleaned my plate.

“La Dolce Vita, La Jolla, CA”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2014

After putting our name for a 45 min wait at a spot closer to shore, we walked the area and found La Dolce Vita right off the main street. We sat outside in the courtyard by the fountain and had a very pleasant afternoon catching up with friends we hadn't seen in some time. Food was really fresh, well seasoned and reasonably priced. Wine recommendation was spot on. Service excellent and being able to converse without noisy lunch time chatter was a plus. The mashed sun dried tomato and olive oil mixture with homemade bread as starter was awesome. Would return.
