If you want to visit La Jolla Shores hotel, put all your expectations of a Four Seasons Hotel experience aside and appreciate what a wonderful thing the owners of the hotel have provided. Here you are - beachside- at one of the best beaches in southern California with San Diego history and sites a short distance away - and the hotel maintains itself with affordable prices! The family could so easily price all of us out of the neighborhood but, for whatever reasons, they have not done so. Will you have fancy linens? No. Will you tuck your children in at night with the colors of the incredible sunset and their smiles in mind? Yes. Will you run to the dining room with expectations of gastronomic thrills? No. Will you arrange for a dinner table on the beach, eating whatever food your family brings in from the grocery store or a take-out nearby and watch the children scramble after a wave til they are sodden with joy and exhaustion? Yes. In short, just go and be together as a family and don't be fussy and you will have a jewel of a vacation. If all the amenities make or break your trip, don't make it hard on yourself and stay at a Four Seasons.

Room Tip: Rooms with a coast view are just fine if there aren't any beach views available but in the summe...

We have been visiting this hotel for many years and are never disappointed. Hands down the best location. This hotel hold terrific memories for our family. Thanks to an old friend for recommending it to us.

Room Tip: Spend the extra cost to get an ocean view or coastal view. It is much better than TV.

We stayed here for 5 days. It is in a great location, on the beach, easy to go to the major tourist sites and a short drive to shopping etc. The hotel is equipped with whats needed for a low key holiday. nice heated pool. helpful staff. the food was ok at the hotel but they did have all meals and a nice bar.

We spent nearly a week at the hotel and were about 3 days in when we discovered that our room was infested with bed bugs. We immediately notified the hotel staff in an attempt to work with them to respond to and resolve the problem. The hotel staff was in complete denial and did not take our concerns seriously until we produced a medical diagnosis from the local clinic. They only moved us to another room after it was demanded and they slow to respond and treated us as if we had caused the problem. We treated our own things and tried our best to eliminate the insects from our clothing and luggage but still ended up with them in our home! We will NEVER stay here again and would caution anyone from making a reservation unless they inquire about the hotels insect control policies.

Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns regarding your recent stay at the La Jolla Shores Hotel. Your note is very important to me, as it allows us to continually monitor and improve our guest service. It is more than clear that we could and should have done a much better job with the issues during your stay.
Please accept my sincerest apologies with regard to the unsatisfactory condition of your room and the lack of guest service that you experienced. Rest assured that corrective measures have been taken to ensure that these types of situations do not reoccur.

We had a 5 day stay and enjoyed the beach and pool. Traveled with 2 couples and one 4 year old and stayed in 2 king beachfront kitchenette rooms. The room on the third floor was nicer and larger although both were the same charge. The location is excellent for walking or running on the beach or nearby sidewalk. The park next door is nice and has a swing set etc for kids. The restaurant is excellent and we enjoyed a beach barbeque 2 nights- one with table and chairs ($30) and one just the grill set up ($20). (We decided to have some wine with dinner the second night and alcohol is not allowed on the beach). Overall, our stay was great and we will be back to watch the beautiful sunsets and listen to the waves at night. BTW I used Google maps for directions from the airport and unfortunately they have the hotel located north of where it really is, but they have The Shores restaurant located right, so use that as your destination.

We spent four nights in a coastline view room. The hotel's location right on the beach was incredible. The overall fit and finish of the hotel and the rooms was average at best. Our room was advertised as "renovated" which apparently means they bought some new bedspreads and a flatscreen TV for the room. I was expecting higher end finishes given the location and room price.

We were seeking for our business event venue with group nights around La Jolla, CA. We checked with La Jolla Shores Hotel's sales office. It was not easy to work and discuss with the hotel's sales manager Jade. The sales office is VERY DEMANDING and do not have listening skills what we needed and asked for. They are not willing to any negotiation.
Not everyone in the world can afford everything they want.

Likewise, hotel and car rental rates and other services are usually open for negotiation.
But, this hotel's sales office is uninterested and do not value our efforts and our business.

They asked us to buy Fiji water bottles for our business group if we would host our event or book our group block at this hotel. We did not ask them about purchasing water bottles. We mentioned them that we are not into fancy water bottles. They did not listen us what we needed and asked for. They love to argue and expect a lot from us!

Self-Parking lot is $16. We asked for a group rate for the parking lot. They refused.
Our org committee emailed twice to Kristen Ferguson, Director of Sales of the hotel and no response from her. She ignored our emails.

Therefore, they have poor customer service, poor communication, lack of openness, flexibility, and listening skills.


They do not want to know and do not care about your budget what you needed and asked for.

We do not recommend you to host any business event or book a group block for nights.
