Stayed for two nights and was very disappointed with our experience. I would never stay at this pooe excuse for a boutique hotel. It was very warm during our stay. The air conditioning in our room was not working properly. It took over 4 hours for the hotel to fix the problem. We had work people in our room 4 different times. It was very disrupting. The manager treated us very rudely and was very unaccomodating. When we asked for some consideration on our bill for our inconvenience her constant mantra was "well all the other guests had a very good experience". Really...how does that help us? All this manager did was come up with excuses but never addressed problems we were dealing with. Another guest told us towards the end of the trip that there is reserved parking. When we checked in the inexperienced young woman failed to inform us of this. The safe in our son's room did not work. The bathrooms had a foul ordor in them. Our keys did not work properly, which was a problem. The bathrooms are designed poorly and the lighting system in the rooms is terrible. There is an expanded continental breakfast that is included with some tasteless rolls, under cooked eggs and juice. I would suggest taking a pass and finding a hotel that is run by professionals.

We stayed on a Friday night - last minute one night getaway without the kids - the room was a deluxe king priced at $270 (breakfast included, parking and water in the room was not). Whilst the room was spacious, with tasteful, neutral decor, it was rather sterile - it felt like a converted office room, not a hotel little natural light and sadly, we had no view. It compared poorly to my stay a couple of weeks earlier at the La Jolla Estancia Spa hotel, where I had also king room, far superior, stylish and comfortable for a much better deal. I won't try to compare the two that much because the Parisi was in the centre of town, whilst The Estancia is a resort in lush gardens, but the gloominess of the room at the Parisi did rather spoil things for me, even if its location is handy to discover La Jolla on foot. The bathroom was spacious, with a great bath, decent shower - shame no door between the toilet and the rest of the bathroom. Good quality toiletries, which were not the mini size to take away, but refillable -I like that small but important step towards a responsible, green hotel philosophy. Sadly the bed was really hard and uncomfortable for me - very disappointing for the price of the room - I stayed in a holiday inn in July and the beds were much more comfortable.

The continental breakfast was the highlight - great quality fresh food, fruits, bread, cereal, juice etc, good tea and coffee - really top notch - it smoothed over the very rough night of bad bed and being woken up by the garbage men at 6 am!

The staff that we came across were just ok - the (young, perhaps un-trained) girl on the front desk was cutting the ends of her hair with office scissors whilst sitting at the front desk and whilst she had a sweet nature, was unable to help with questions about discovering the San Diego area...

Overall, a mixed experience - sadly, whilst I can't wait to return to La Jolla, I would not go back to the Parisi.

This is a really special/unusual spot in the heart of La Jolla. It's on the second floor with retail space on the ground floor, and it has a very "zen" like feel to it. We were put in a mini-suite that was beautiful with a perfect lay-out. The room had two floor-to-ceiling widows (one was a slider with a small balcony). The views are just of downtown La Jolla, but there's a just a great "feel" to the place. I thought the free breakfast was very good (lots of fresh fruit, cheeses, meats, yogurt etc), and I loved the automatic espresso maker. Walk outside and you are in the heart of La Jolla and a block from the water.
My only complaint was that there was no common outdoor space -- (I'd love a rooftop patio with some firepits).

Hotel Parisi worked out very well for us. The rooms were clean, the beds extremely comfortable and the amenities fine. The only strange part was that they put us in the "Parisi Apart". This is across the street, but perfectly nice and right in the heard of LaJolla. We will stay here again. Not much of a view, but that isn't something we needed.
