We had a very enjoyable 5 day stay at this hotel. The front desk staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We were given several information sheets with directions to various local places of interest. The parking lot is gated and you use your room key to get in and out-so be sure to have it with you! We were in room 515 which was on the ground floor. This hotel has several different buildings, all of which are only 2 stories tall. ( Not having to negotiate elevators was nice but they are available if necessary to get to the 2nd floor!) We really enjoyed having a refrigerator and microwave in our room along with a coffee maker with Starbucks coffee and an assortment of tea bags. Two of the window sections had screens and you could slide open them open to enjoy the wonderful CA weather. Due to being on the ground floor, our windows were limited in the width they would open so we felt safe with them open, even at night. (We are from Mississippi and don't get to enjoy open window breezes very often so this was a wonderful treat for us!) Everything was very clean. The king bed was quite comfortable and we had a small couch, desk with chair and all other regular hotel amenities. The bathroom was adequate in size, very clean and with good water pressure in the shower (adjustable shower head, too). The lotion, shampoo and conditioner provided has a nice citrus fragrance and the hairdryer was powerful. The pool area and grounds were beautiful. There was a hot tub area and a waterfall and koi pond. We did not have a pool view but this would have been wonderful! There are ice and vending machines at each building. We did not eat onsite so I can't speak to that. There is a gate at the side of the parking area which leads to a shopping area next door. ( You must have your room key to get back through the gate.) In the shopping area, The Shops at La Jolla Village, we enjoyed Whole Foods, Peets Coffee, Sprinkles Cupcakes (!), 24 hr. CVS pharmacy. There were other shops, restaurants and a movie theater, as well, so search this area online to see what all is there. Across the street is another large shopping area, La Jolla Village Square, with DSW, California Pizza Kitchen and tons more. UTC Westfield Mall is not far away either. I just can't say enough about this great hotel! Even though it is located close to the freeway, we were not bothered by noise at all. We would definitely stay here again.
Rooms on second floor overlooking the pool would be wonderful.
