Wonderful! The venue was perfect- service impeccable and villa was more fab than expected. Plenty of space to have guests over on balcony or living room. The bathroom had an oversize tub and shower, 2 sinks and great make up mirror

Room Tip: The villas are amazing!

We arrived after a long day of driving and were greeted by the VERY helpful and friendly valet attendants. The front of the hotel was undergoing construction/remodel so it was a bit of a maze getting inside and I didn't get much of a sense of what the hotel looks like front the front. Once inside we were taken to our room in a quite small (but JUST big enough for the valet cart) elevator. The room was very small but really fine for what we needed. The bathroom was also small but it was well designed for the size. Everything inside the room was beautiful and comfortable. I didn't have much interaction with the staff inside the hotel but the valet guys were THE BEST!!! We had a lovely stay here and I would go back again.

Dear Mile High City Guest –
I love that you love our Valet Team; they rock! The team is our guests first impression and have been great stewards of hospitality during the renovation of our arrival entry which is almost complete. It sounds like you stayed in one of our vintage traditional rooms; these smaller cozy rooms are located in the main tower building and have 9 ft. ceilings and stunning ocean views. The recently remodeled bathrooms although small (circa 1928 building) have dual head showers and lighted vanity mirror for Euro-efficiency and comfort. We’re happy to know you’ll be back and we have lots of new plans for the future including the return of Café LaRue this fall.
Ciao –

This is not a five star property. It is also a bit difficult to navigate the property if you are not able to negotiate stairs and multiple elevators in different buildings.
The terrace breakfast and lunch are lovely and the views great. Food selection and pricing excellent.
The basic rooms are very small. The villas are really special. There can be street noise and activity very near by.
the pool is beautiful
the staff lovely and helpful.
The location excellent.
Park and stay 3 nights and never get in the car. That is a nice weekend.
This is an old style hotel with modernization making it very nice. It is just not a 5 star hotel.
I would come here again and again.

Dear Rancho Mirage Guest –
Our real “star” ratings are our guests; we value the loyalty of each traveler who enters our property; thank you for selecting La V. As a bluff side vintage and boutique property stairs and multiple levels are come with the territory and are part of our charm. The property encompasses 4 buildings dating from 1909 to 2000 on 11 levels with terraced gardens, walkways and paths. I am especially appreciate of your comments on our lovely and helpful staff; thank you.
We hope La V becomes a coastal favorite for you both –
Cheers,

There really is no better address in La Jolla - you can walk to everything, the sunset views are to die for and the level of service is outstanding.
We stayed in one of the 1 bedroom casitas due to the construction and found it very comfortable, private and luxurious.
The terrace is a special place to have a meal too!

Room Tip: One bedroom casitas have fantastic terraces and views

Dear Florida Fan;
La V is indeed THE address – thank you for making it your home away from home. The Villas are such a special part of the property and I am delighted you enjoyed your retreat. The entry renovation is just about finished (it only affects the valet arrival) and we’re excited about the new trellis and arbor over the front patio of the Mediterranean Room – yet another great location for al fresco dining!
See you soon.

My husband, 19 year old daughter and our dog stayed at La Valencia for three nights. We arrived late the first night and were put in a beautiful, but small room. The next day, the hotel moved us to a larger room which suited us perfectly. The best part of the stay was the quality of the service and the friendliness of the staff. From the valets to the operators to the front desk personnel, we consistently greeted with a smile and true warmth. Anything we asked about or for was handled in an extremely open and friendly manner. We never felt that we were "bothering" the staff at all. We had our small black lab with us and the staff greeted us and our dog as if we were family. The hotel itself is a lovely, older building in the heart of La Jolla. It is steps away from all of the restaurants of shops as well as steps away from Scripps park and the overlook to the ocean. We would come back here in a heartbeat. This is service at its best.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the lower floors, in one of the wings.

Dear Arizona Family –
I am so happy La V made your family trip enjoyable including for your four footed companion (we love dogs). I am thrilled that the staff were the highlight and thank you for recognizing this in your comments; décor, architecture and ocean views are nothing if the service don’t deliver. It looks like you enjoyed the best of La Jolla so all can can add is . . . come back!
Warm regards,

First and foremost the staff were very attentive and helpful. From the friendly and courteous valet to the bellman to the front desk, all the staff were just great. The hotel is being remodeled and we stayed in the cutest room, La Petite Chambre, as some of their rooms are not numbered and retain their titles from long ago. We had glitches in our stay such as no luggage racks in the room, which were brought up later for us, and our TV not working, which they responded quickly to and switched out for a working TV. Be aware that their restaurant on the ground floor is being remodeled with very loud machines to rip out the concrete being used. The good news is that they waited until 9 am to start their work and then once the noise traveled to our room, the front desk promptly called us to offer a free breakfast delivered to the room or in their other restaurant on the terrace. This is a very beautiful, historic hotel and right across the street from La Jolla Cove where you can see the seals lounging on the rocks.

Dear Maui Guest –
Le Petite Chambre is indeed our coziest room but it does offer unique charm. I apologize for the missing items on arrival but happy to know they were quickly corrected. I am especially grateful for your great comments on our staff – they make the place tick. Renovation of Café La Rue is directly below 4 rooms including the Le Petite Chambre. I am happy to report that the concrete work was completed this week – we do keep our guests informed of work as it progresses.
We hoped to see you back soon.

We chose La Valencia based on trip advisor reviews so figured it is our duty to share our wonderful experience to help other travelers. We could not have been more pleased! The setting and location can not be beat. There is a back door that you can walk out and be right at the park and cove where the sea lions swim. Everything was extremely clean and well maintained. The food and drinks were fabulous, and how fun to have the option of live music every night right at your hotel. Every single staff member was beyond helpful. My husband and I agree that this hotel provided the best all around service we have ever received at a hotel. Although we chose an escape weekend without kids, we were pleased to see families and that such a nice place also had the balance of being open to kids.
We stayed in a standard room. The room and bathroom were very nice but very small. One suggestion we have is to add hooks in the bathroom and in the closet because there was no where to hang towels or wet clothing. We toured a villa and would definitely choose that or a larger room if we were to return with our family. We were also amazed by the "blackout" shades, great for allowing us to get some rest!
Overall, it was a wonderful stay!!

Room Tip: Our room was right off the pool which was great for a partial ocean view and access to the pool but...
