The Inn at La Jolla was to be one of our splurges on our recent trip to the California coast. We expected a comfortable room, gracious hosts, and an over-the-top gourmet breakfast. What we got was a tiny room (did they not think about where you might put your luggage?), a short, almost snooty greeting, and a very average breakfast. The location, at least, was good, and we were able to park our car in one of the very few places provided and then walk everywhere in the pretty little town. Generally, though, I think we would have been happier somewhere else. Maybe, though, if the owner reads this review, gets some of the furniture out of the rooms, puts on a happier face at the desk, and "brings a little more to the breakfast table," guests will find it to be delightful. Maybe.

Thank you for your review. Yes, the Shores is one our cozier rooms. But we do offer larger guest rooms as well. There is a hugh range from cozy to penthouse suite. However, The beauty of the Shores guest room is it's location off the Inn's library/den and the 2nd floor patio allowing the guest to enjoy the sun, the work station, etc. as an extended part of their accommodations.

Your suggestion that we remove some of the furniture will be taken into consideration since this is the first complaint of that nature that we have had. Since you were only with us for one night I can see why you would not have wanted to unpack. We do provide two luggage racks per guest room -for those guests who prefer to keep their contents in their luggage - in addition to a closet or armoire and bureau for those who find vacationing out of a suitcase a chore, many of our guests are with us for a week or more.
Breakfast is the second most important half of a guest's stay with us, and we are sorry you were not happy with what was provided. It has come to our attention that perhaps some of our guests are equating a good breakfast with an abundance of food. So in the future we will have a breads, pastries, jams and cream cheese buffet for those guests who want something more- or less than- the fresh, healthy, 3 course breakfast provided.
Again, thank you for choosing us while visiting La Jolla and taking the time to let us know how we can improve.
