“History & Great Food All in One Place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2012

What a charming place! The original old cabin still remains: Low ceilings, dark room, big fireplace, wood floors. The food is exceptional: Nothing low-cal on this menu, but the offerings are pure American down-home cooking. Stuffed pork chop is decadent; the chicken and ribs are great; the burgers are also very good. Beware! The portions are really big so you might consider sharing an entree. The wine list is adequate and reasonably priced. DH has had breakfast and dinner here many times while skiing at Kirkwood, and he notes that the food and service are always excellent. Fun bar scene too.

“breakfast on a cold ride”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2012

Left South Shore Lake Tahoe early on a very cold morning on Harleys. Hour later, shivering and damp we came upon this little rustic saloon where we staggered in and were blessed with the sweetest waitress and a cozy fireplace with real logs blazing away. Breakfast menu was amazing for a small out of the way place. The fluffy pancakes were the size of the plate they were served on. Biscuits and gravy were to die for. Can't say enough good things about this charming old restaurant. I hope others are lucky enough to stumble in and find the same atmosphere and good food as we did.
