We totally disagree with this post! This is the BEST place to stay in Tahoe,You want to see BAD Rooms, next time you come to Kings beach, stay at the Tahoe Inn AKA: BATES MOTEL !!!! We have stayed at Crown many times and loved every stay,The people and help is awesome. We never stay anywhere else when we're in tahoe, So travelers check it out, you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: Love all the rooms, most of which have a view of the lake, We also liked room 401 away from the beac...

Our daughters practically grew up on their beaches and played endlessly in their pools. The Ferraris really take care of their properties and they sincerely care about their patrons. We have mostly gotten the lakeview rooms because they are usually quieter than those out front. plus, you get a view of the beautiful lake. We have NEVER had a problem there even when our kids were younger. Great place right on the beach and reasonable rates. You can't go wrong!!

Marlene,

Having just finished our 58th summer at the Crown, I can’t even tell you how much this review means to us. Some of my very best friends in the world are some that I met playing on the beach here in the early 1960s and who now come with their grand children. Ferrari’s Crown has been our home for all these years. We “live” it every day and work hard to give everyone a good experience on the Lake.

Thanks for returning all those years and taking the time to write a review.

We stayed here for a weekend with our daughter. The rooms looked very similar to the website, so we were not as surprised as we might have been otherwise. This is a 50 year old property, and it looks 50 years old. The room furnishings have not been updated in a very long time, but the matresses are a good quality. The people in the office are friendly and helpful. The bathroom heater was not working in our room, and while they could not fix it right there and then, they offered us a space heater, if we wanted it. This motel sits right at the Lake, so spending a few more dollars for a Lake view is well worth it.You have direct access to the beach. There are also two outdoor pools and hot tub. The Continental breakfast which is open from 8AM-10AM, is only coffee, juice, toast and cereal. If you are prepared to stay somewhere old, then this should suit you just fine. We stayed in room 414, a two bedroom with 3 queen beds and a full kitchen. We had thought we might cook, but the kitchen is so tight and the cooking utensils so poor, that we decided not to bother. We used the kitchen table as a flat surface to put things on, as there is no other counterspace. This motel is well suited for kids who want to build a sand castle and play in the water.

Room Tip: Room 414 is the largest room at the motel with very nice views of the Lake. It would easily accomoda...

Thanks for the feedback and providing a room number, it will help us take care of that heater. We are just coming into the “heater” time of year. We will check out the cooking utensils as well. I admit that the kitchen in that unit is small as was the style when our units were constructed.

We stayed at Ferrari's lured by their low rates. We certainly found out why. Stuffed away in a dark corner facing the busy main road, a section separate from the main buildings. We were offered an upgrade for $60, but did not accept. Still, we expected to have a clean and inviting room, but didn't. Dirt everywhere in the corners and behind the furniture where we had to look for plugs. We even had to clean the small table next to the bed. Fortunately the bed linen was OK.
So do not get lured by the low rates. And if you decide to go for the more expesive ones, you can probably find something better elsewhere. The breakfast was definitely not impressive at all, but at least helped us ti get an early start away from Lake Tahoe.

We appreciate the review. We were able to figure out which room this guest stayed in and I took some time to inspect the room. This room has a wood floor which we have experimented with in some of our downstairs rooms. I will freely admit that the floor was dusty behind the beds and on the side against the wall.

This is the time of year when we do our deep cleanings and also when we get some high winds that tend to bring in dust past even the best weather stripping.

The floor in this room should have been cleaner under the beds. The bathroom and all top surfaces in the room were very clean.

I would just like to say that we had a great time at Ferrari's--- but what truly started off our stay on the right leg was the fantastic customer service we experienced. We were originally booked in a lake front room but had to change our dates slightly due to the catastrophic Rim Fire. We were told that the only rooms left were lake view on the ground floor. When we checked in we were pleasantly surprised to be back on the lake front! Every one staff was so friendly and helpful during our stay. The room had a great view of the lake and a pleasant shared balcony area. We brought dinner back to the hotel every evening to enjoy the view. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was immaculate. It has a great beachfront location. We rented stand up paddleboards from the onsite vendor and there was a discount if you were staying at the hotel. The outdoor jacuzzi was great. We didn't go in the pool because the lake was so incredible, but there are two pools and they looked clean and inviting. The resort is walking distance to a few restaurants, a grocery store and a drugstore. We loved our stay at Ferrari and can't wait to go back to the same room next year!

Room Tip: Be willing to splurge on a room with a view of the lake. But the location itself is worth it no matt...

This motel caught our eye because it clearly states no pets, and that's a treasure nowadays. With so many high priced motels/hotels around Lake Tahoe, Ferrari's is a charming, clean and delightful motel that looks directly onto the lake. The bed was very comfortable and it had both soft and firm pillows, which was nice. The motel is a 60's era place (like many in the area) and that gave it a fun retro feel. As long as you're OK with it being older, you'll appreciate it. And old doesn't mean dirty, it is very well kept and clean!
Our room was upstairs and it had chairs out front on a veranda type common balcony. We watched beautiful sunsets each night right in front of our room. Being at the top of the lake it was easy to go down either side of the lake for sightseeing and activities. It included a modest breakfast of coffee and pastries, which is nice if that's all you want, otherwise there are some great restaurants nearby. We were undecided about going in when we pulled into the parking lot, but were really happy we stayed there. I don't think you'll be disappointed!

Room Tip: It's a 100% pet free hotel

We stayed at the Ferrari crown for a night and it was fantastic! The location was very convenient as there was a rite aide across the street for any necessities that you may need during your stay. (You can even get some kites!)

We got a phenomenal room facing the lake on the upper level that was in the corner of the building (they had a few buildings), so we were able to not only enjoy the large 'store front' like door and window, but we also had windows along the wall. There was a fireplace as well, which came in handy when the night fell upon us; we also enjoyed it after our shower as we used it to toast our clothes :) the coffee maker greeted our morning, and it was very nice to have a fridge and microwave as so many hotels during our stay in California lacked that. The shower was powerful and relaxing; having the hot tub right outside was also perfect.

The location was fantastic as we walked along the lake shore in the morning with our coffees. We also walked to local dining for dinner and breakfast.

Our stay was very pleasant, and I would recommend the crown to anyone who's going to the north shore in Lake Tahoe. I hope to return there soon, and will request the same room :) thank you for a wonderful stay!
