“Always good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013

We've eaten at Lanza's several times over the past 20 years and we've never been disappointed. Homey atmosphere and hearty food. It gets crowded in the summer so eat on the early end or be prepared for a long wait.

“Suprised by other reviews”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013

I am surprised by the other reviews I've read. Our experience was uncomfortable and disappointing. It started off with the "free" appetizer, "fried ravioli", which was tough and chewy and did not seem "fried" in any sense, but rather baked from a frozen state. The waitress did listen, and offered something else, but she did not make us feel at ease in any way. We were uncomfortable, because we do not usually ever send anything back. We declined another appetizer because we felt sure our main entrees would be ample. We ordered the Stuffed Shells Sampler (2 cheese, 2 meat) and a Pesto Penne Pasta with added chicken. Each pasta dish was around $17.50, expensive in my opinion for pasta. We were surprised at how basic the dishes were. They both lacked seasoning. The shells were average and we ate them. However, the Pesto Penne was terrible. There was absolutely nothing to it. It was bland and the pasta was overcooked and mushy. We couldn't eat it. The waitress told us we'd have to speak to the manager, who looked at us sternly. It was extremely uncomfortable. The manager did take it off the bill, then added $4.50 back for the side salad that came with it. It was our last night there and we truly wanted a great evening, and were disappointed. So, I am surprised at how other reviews find the food so tasty. It didn't seem to have any seasoning at all, and the foods most certainly were NOT made fresh to order.

Delicious, large portions, friendly staff and excellent Tirimisu (save room and take leftover pasta for breakfast)

“Large portions - enough for 2”

The pasta dishes are HUGE and could be shared by two easily . Staff was extremely pleasant. Food was pretty good but I probably would not make it a regular stop
