My first tripadviser review!

I’ve been staying at Keefers for many years dating back to when Mr. Keefer owned and operated both the hotel and restaurant (where he was the chief cook). It was always a fine place to stay.

Several years ago he sold the restaurant to Margie’s Diner and the motel to Deep. The restaurant has since gone downhill and is now shut down. The motel has been upgraded and is now enjoying more business than ever. The number 1 rating for King City Motels is well deserved.

Fastest internet connection I’ve ever seen at a motel and it’s free!

I've stayed here twice on business -- for a week each time. Very pleasant. Rooms are large and clean and the beds are comfortable and the showers are hot. There's a fridge and microwave in each room, which is very handy for extended stays. The owners are nice people and the free coffee is welcome. Furnishings are not fancy but are new and functional. Light switches in the room and bathroom have a built-in nightlight, which I personally really appreciated for finding my way around while half-asleep. All in all, a good place to stay at a reasonable price.

While on a long drive back to Santa Rosa from San Diego, I made a last-minute decision to stop and spend the night in Kings City. I had no reservation, but saw the Keefer's Inn sign from the highway and decided to see what it was like.

The hostess in the office courteously and promptly offered me an upstairs non-smoking room with a senior discount (I'm 59 yrs old). While not "fancy", the room was very clean (the bathroom was newly remodeled and IMMACULATE, with clean fluffy towels) and had a small refrigerator that worked very well to keep my picnic food cold. The bed was firm and there were good bedside reading lamps.

The room rate included a modest Continental breakfast with REALLY good coffee, and Margie's Diner is right across the parking lot for those with heartier appetites.

At 2:30 AM we stumbled off the freeway and into the nicest place so far on our trip (From Portland,OR) Super clean room, extremely friendly owners, we felt right at home. We would come out of our way to stay here again. Super coffee was a huge bonus!!!
