After having spent the last 2 weeks between the Reef Resort & Beach Club. THIS IS THE BEST PLACE TO STAY IN SIHANOUKVILLE !!! We shopped around over the passed 2 wks & there is no comparison in service, rooms & VALUE.
$29 / night for 2 rooms with 3 beds for a family of 4, breakfast included & a beautiful pool area....
Directly across from the prime miniter's private'residence. It is safe & clean.
This morning our kids had the privilidge of watching the PM's helicopter take off ;)

If you can book this place, look no further. We had to come by almost everyday until they finally had a room available. We will definitely stay here on our next stay & recommend !!!

Stayed at Orchadee Guest House for one week in mid-January 2009 in a bungalow for one night and an upstairs double for the remained of my stay. With 72 rooms this is no longer a Guest House, rather it has the look and feel of a motel. The bungalows are small and the twin rooms are especially crowded with the 2 beds. They each have a small porch that looks out on a row of similar porches. The new upstairs doubles with balcony are quite large. All rooms and bungalows come with satellite TV, fridge, AC, in room safe, reasonable amount of space and hangers for hanging clothes but no drawers, and only luke-warm water in the shower, thanks to those useless electric Panasonic water heaters. No hot water in the sink for shaving. Housekeeping does an excellent job. They have motorcycles and bikes for rent, but their electric bike was broken when I stayed there.

Wifi works in the lobby and restaurant and is free. If you use their one computer it is $2/hr. The buffet breakfast is decent, with excellent bread, though there is no fruit or juice (however these items can be purchased separately). The restaurant has a good selection of Asian and European/N. American items and prices are reasonable (bottle of wine = $9, pop = $0.50, 1.5 L water = $1, fried noodles & veggies $2). Smoking is permitted throughout the property, including in the restaurant, so try enjoying your meal as you are sucking in second-hand cigarette smoke from all the surrounding tables. The pool is a good size and there are lounge chairs with cushions. The hotel provides free pickup at the bus station. The hotel can arrange onward transport (with no commission) and touring options.

There is construction going on both on the property and next door so you may want to avoid rooms that overlook the courtyard/restaurant area.

The problem of returning to the GH after 10pm seems to have been solved by having the night watchman sleep on a cot next to the front gate.

Arrived to find good size room. I had my suspicions about noise but was reassured it's a quiet hotel. When I went to bed I noticed maggots under the covers. All through the night there were people coming and going and at 7am I discovered the room next to me was literally a building site! There was relentless banging from there on in!

Stayed at the Orchidee for a night. As some of the previous posters have remarked, the room we got was okay, but we also experienced rather aloof service from the reception staff. We had also arranged for a pickup form the bus station, and after waiting for 30 minutes and no one showed up, we made our own way to the Guesthouse. When we asked the receptionist about it, she said they had just send a tuk-tuk to get us, and that the bus was earlier than usual. Later, when we had a problem with the security box and asked for help from the staff, they were very slow to arrive.

PROS
(1) Room was okay
(2) Location was far away from the beach for some peace and quiet, but near enough to walk there
(3) Breakfast we had was not bad
(4) Motos and tuk-tuks waiting just outside hotel, so no problem getting a ride anywhere

CONS
(1) Seemingly indifferent staff

This place is a bit random inside, as if it's five or so buildings knocked together. I think I was in an older 'wing' - the room overlooked the pool. The room was a good size, comfy bed, decent bathroom/shower, clean and functional. The rooms above the restaurant look newer, but the view would be of the road. Plus points are the various roof top terraces, good food in the restaurant and a decent internet connection (faster than the cafe across the road, but double the price). Location is convenient for Ochheuteal beach - five mins walk.

  • Liked — Fine for the price.
  • Disliked — Ochheuteal beach is seriously sleazy.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2008

Stayed here one night on our arrival in SKville , then had to move on as they were booked out and we hadnt made prior reservations.

I found the two single bed room . at back of hotel away from pool area, to be extremely clean, spacious and had excellent bathroom. I think I paid $20 for the night. Included bar fridge and cable TV as well as air conditioning. The breakfast menu included in price also had a pretty good selection . THe pool area was also good. with pool loungers and appeared very clean.

The hotel was only 200 metres or so from Serendipidity beach and a large minimart. I found the staff to be OK .One PC availabel for inernet useage.

  • Liked — pool - walking distance to beach but far enough way from noise of beach parties at night
