“comfortable budget hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2014

i stayed in this hotel for 2 nights as part of a g adventures tour.
on arrival the reception area was spacious and clean, checking in process quick and easy and staff more than willing to help.
the rooms were basic but comfortable.
i didnt use the pool but it looked clean, the hotel is in excellent location only a short walk to the beach.
not bad for a budget hotel and would use again

Stayed here in December for a few days
From the outside of the Hotel looks great Lobby perfect then as soon as you go in to the room what a disappointing.
Was shocked and went down to ask to be moved and was told by an Australian guy at reception that I was in Cambodia and should get used to it . but stayed in a nice hotel in Pnom Penh.
The room was basic rusty fridge old tv and no plugs for my lap top.
Toilet not very clean very basic hotel so don't be fooled by images on website.
The food in the restaurant was good breakfast okay but not great .
Would not go back there again

It was a good hotel located near the beautiful beach, just 5mn walk to the beach. The hotel has a private pool that is useful after enjoying in the sea. Room was ok and staff was nice. We could see the view from our room.

Very comfortable and large room. The minor defect is that it is a brand new hotel and the hotel area is still under renovation. The hotel staff performance is excellent and polite. I felt very relaxing staying in this hotel with a reasonable rate.

Nothing fancy but this hotel achieved all it set out to do. the rooms were spacious with a good sized bed, the reception staff were very helpful, especially Vanessa, and the pool was of a good size and well maintained. Breakfast covered both Asian and Western dishes and was more than adequate. Value for money was, on the whole, pretty good

Average soulless tourist hotel. Good pool, good location, ok breakfast and fair price. Can't say anything bad really about this place but its just an average hotel that has a good pool. Stayed for 5 days which was more than enough

Distinctly large and soulless there are a number of things that make this hotel something worth considering.

Firstly it has a nice and airy lobby perfect for waiting for your tours in, a couple of internet computers, a nice restaurant that does a tasty breakfast and staff with good English. Secondly while it is used by some tour companies the place is not a hangout for the drunken backpacker crowd nor does it seem infused with the geriatric sex tourist brigade.

While Golden Sands may be somewhat soulless and somewhat slab sided in construction the basic rooms on offer are fine for the price, everything works and the place is well located for your jaunts either to the beaches or to any of the many local eateries and nightspots.

Perhaps not a 'couples' hotel and certainly not a 'tune in and drop out' beachside cottage style affair this is perfect for the solo traveller or group of friends looking for something safe, sane and secure as a base to explore the local area.

Room Tip: The restaurant does a tasty breakfast. ATM at the end of the hotel grounds.
