“Strictly only for the young, and party minded.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2014

Stayed 3 nights, great position for beach, remembering Cambodian beaches are not the best, stayed bungalow, fan, had one fan when mentioned was hot another fan was produced (thank you) staff friendly, and food was excellent, BUT remember, people party hard into the night and sleep is not a priority, and the room is used for what young people use it for, and the walls are thin (use your imagination), and Khmers love there dorf dorf music. so be warned not for family, or older generations.

Room Tip: Take earplugs, or white noise tape.

I stopped here one night, really did not want to leave.

On arrival we were greeted immediately by the friendly staff at the front desk, showed to our room which was one of the cheaper $20 a night beach huts, which our basic but clean with on suite and fan.

The location is paradise, in the morning i woke up was greeted by the friendly restaurant staff and pointed towards the breakfast buffet, after its a really long 10 second walk to the beach for a morning swim!

The food here is on the pricey side, we did eat here twice but i would of gone elsewhere if i stayed longer.

A pool will be finished according the staff around july time, which will be an added bonus!

Room Tip: The price will go up by $5-$10 a room by july time due to a pool being built making it more luxuriou...

Our original plan was to stay at Elephant for 3 nights then fly to Malaysia. But once we arrived we could not leave. The owner's Mark and Michael (and their amazing wives) are the most wonderful hosts we met in our whole trip, we got stuck, in paradise. Nothing was a problem, nothing was too hard to make our stay anything but a once in a life time memory. Rooms were beautiful, (although if you're like me and the mozzies love you take a can of bug spray) clean, and divinely comfortable. As the cooler sea breeze comes in around 4pm you've got to get to the Boat Bar for happy hour, to drink the divine cocktails and meet the amazing staff/owner/s where their new restaurant is taking off with a bang. Other tip, the most amazing dish @ Elephant is 'The Volcano'. Laugh a minute and the best spot to watch the sunset. I will return ASAP - my fav place in Cambodia - LUV Caz & Jo (the kiwi & Aussie combo xx)

We stayed at the elephant garden for 5 days and had amazing customer service from start to finish. For the price you pay, this place is more than excellent. The rooms are very tidy and comfortable, the outdoor space is very well done with lots of lounging options, the food is great and the staff is always there to help. The owner was very friendly and helped organizing our transport to vietnam, which went very well. Otres 2 is the most beautiful beach in Cambodia, is very quiet and super clean.

Only come here if you are out of other viable choices. While we did enjoy the environment and the bungalow was clean and quite comfy, as told by many others, the service by the manager/owner was horrible. Our bad experiences include:
- when we checked in, the manager accused us of not paying the full holiday surcharge (we booked thru agoda and did paid the holiday price)
- rented us a broken motorbike that speedometer and mirror were not working
- door cannot locked and bathroom leaks - when we complained, the manager was very rude and thought we are stupid
- food is overpriced (so we ate at Tamu nearby, which was simply amazing - highly recommended)
- when we checked out, he attemped to charge us for some water we didnt purchase and when we said we didn't order, he didnt believe replied "if you say so" (despite we just told him that he forgot to charge the motorbike)
- manager has no smile, he looked so miserble all the time and genuinely didnt care about the guest

So overall, only come here if it is your last option. It wasn't a bad place but when we travel, we are not asking for a place where everything is perfect but rather being treated like we are not unwelcome (maybe okay if you are crashing on the couch of a friend's friend), but definitely not a US$80 "hotel room".

Otres 2 must be the best beach in Sihanoukville if you want to relax and have a laid-back time. The beach strip that belongs to Elephant Garden is really good and perfect for kids.

We stayed 6 nights here in the beginning of February and I have to say that the negative reviews had made me quite worried before we got here, but I was quite happy with our stay.

We stayed in the Khmer house, which our 4-year old thought was really fun. He had a real extra bed and there was space enough for our baby cot on the floor.

There is no hot water, but the water is not really cold, so the temperature is not a problem. The pressure is more of an issue if you want to wash a long hair, but you can always manage. Sometimes there was a smell from the drains, but we never noticed that outside the bugalow, so it must have been under it.

The bungalow was quite dark, so it's not a place where you hang out during the day. We did get an extra lamp when we said so. Like some other reviewers said, you can hear what's going on next door, talking, snoring, etc. But it wasn't disturbing. I never heard any loud music or talking from the restaurant or the staff late in the evenings or early in the mornings. There was music coming from a hostel a few hundred metres away and occasionally a motorbike or loud people passed the hotel during the night, but I wasn't disturbed by that.

There was a mouse(?) in the bungalow eating the babyfood, so don't keep anything edible within the range of animals. Small animals can and will easily get into bungalows on the beach (even expensive ones).

There is a breakfast buffet, which is included if you go for the more expensive bungalows, but you have to pay $3 for if you stay at the hotel. ($5 if you don't stay at the hotel.) We didn't have to pay for our 4-year old and the staff was very friendly and quick to provide hot water for the baby food every morning. The breakfast buffet was simple but good enough for us, with bread, eggs, muesli, fruit, juice, milk etc. I don't think coffee and tea was included though.

We only tried the restaurant once. The food was quite expensive and not fantastic. (My husband also got sick.) But there are other restaurants along the beach, so there is a choice.

The hotel can arrange transportation from/to the airport and from/to Phnom Penh. We arranged both and it was a nice, proper car (Nissan) with drivers that took care when driving.

We were quite happy that we didn't go for the more expensive bungalows though. They are just across the street and look nice enough, but the pool was far from finished (it's not very big either) and the price is much higher.

The hotel is expanding, starting with the restaurant and I think they will continue to construct more bungalows as well.

For us it was a very relaxing stay that our both kids really enjoyed. We were happy with our choice at staying at Otres beach 2 and for us, this was one of the absolutely best options considering value for money (and not looking for a backpacker hostel).

Room Tip: Unless you plan to stay a lot in the room or really want some luxury, I would go for the bungalows a...

We found this place by chance walking on the beach: it very nice and worth the money you spend. We chose the deluxe room with ac and warm water
Mark the owner made his own business, and we appreciated a lot this, but it is very friendly if you want some advices and you ask him something.
The young lady at the reception is very, very kind and helpful.
