“Poor management of food needs”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2013 via mobile

Very beautiful resort with general staff attitude very good and always helpful. Unfortunately as someone who eats halal meat or veg food only I was given pork in one of my meals, naturally I was very upset. On the first night I was provided a veg menu which seemed to be the Same dish for starter and main but just slightly different in appearance. The resort send you a form before your arrival so you can provide your dietary requirements. Considering the price your paying you expect more attention to detail in regards to food. However the last 2 nights the food was excellent with management arranging halal meat to be ordered in. Just a shame I had to go through being given pork for this change to occur. I was very impressed with their ethos, how they ensure the environment and locals are taken care of.

Dear Riz,

Thanks for taking the time to write a review and for your positive comments about the property and our ethos. The team was deeply upset by what occurred with your breakfast and i can only apologize once again for the oversight. You can be assured that we have made substantial changes to our internal systems to ensure this doesn't happen again and i hope the way the team responded to the issue in some way made up for the oversight.

I hope we get the chance to welcome you back to Song Saa and that you enjoyed the rest of your stay in Cambodia.

Sincerely yours,

Rory

If this is what heaven looks like I will start believing in God!
Of course it is expensive however this is expected. Staff, food, ambience, the natural feel, everything was perfect. And I mean perfect. We only stayed here couple of nights while finalizing our SouthEast Asia trip with my wife. From the moment you enter the island I felt like in a paradise. Barefoot from the moment of entering the island. Luxury with a natural and local feel. My wife really did not want to leave :).
For me lifetime experience and I will definitelly come back.
Thank you Song Saa team

This review was fist written last March but somehow did not get published. There are many glowing reviews about this extraordinary resort but none overstates how marvelous it really is. The scenery is spectacular, the accommodations gorgeous and most artistic, the food delicious and the staff, one of the best features, is so accommodating, capable and gracious. The resort covers a lot of territory. It is nice that you can either interact with other international guests or find complete privacy. I have traveled all over the world staying in luxury accommodations and Song Saa is certainly at the top of my list. Being able to have dinner served in your private villa was another special addition.

Room Tip: If you can afford, the royal villa with two bedrooms is really fabulous with a marvelous view of the...

We slipped off our shoes and stepped into a world of simple, understated luxury where time stood still, allowing us to pause and reflect. The resort has been sympathetically designed to blend into this beautiful island paradise. Our villa was completely private yet open to the ocean, tastefully unpretentious yet conveniently appointed with all our needs anticipated including our own infinity pool. It was the simple things that made our stay special: the squeak of sand under our feet; the gentle smiles and gracious manner of the staff; the lush green jungle foliage; the sun glinting on the ocean; the black night sky; the hush....

I travel a lot for work and am lucky to have stayed in some amazing places, but Song Saa is now my favourite place in the world!
Yes - it is expensive, but when you compare the cost with a stay in a similar style Maldivian resort then you get so much more for your money: for a start off - all your meals and drinks as well as laundry (where else can you get all your washing done before you go home?!).
And no - maybe the service isn't always as slick as you'll find in commercialised beach resorts in, say Thailand, but that is the appeal! I don't want to feel staff hovering around waiting to clean my sunglasses, holding my towel as I get out of the pool...
It was the perfect end to a fascinating Cambodia tour: memorable dining, genuinely friendly staff, beautifully spacious villas, an unpretentious & relaxed atmosphere and idyllic surroundings. We wanted for nothing, apart from maybe a couple of extra nights stay!!

We stayed five nights at this fabulous and exclusive resort. The location is lovely and the hotel buildings themselves have been designed and furnished immaculately. The interior designs, the huge amount of space in the very well laid out common areas is impressive. The staff are incredibly helpful and attentive to every detail. We were asked before arrival what we liked and disliked. The 'mimibar'( in a converted huge travelling trunk) was furnished with the particular brands of beer we mentioned and a full size bottle of gin. Every meal was different and locations changed for the evenings. We started in an over water villa but moved to an ocean view. The over water villas are lovely but do face across the water back to the fishing village so a tiny bit noisy with outboard motors. The ocean view villas are quieter and have a lovely small beach of their own. They benefit from both an outdoor lounging area and a separate outdoor dining area -both benefitting from overhead fans which was a lovely and welcome touch. Both benefit from a personal infinity pool. On the subject of pools , the hotel swimming pool is the most beautifully designed pool I have ever seen. Stunning. All in all a wonderful place for some r and r. The only very slight criticism would be the quality of some of the food.

Room Tip: They are all lovely but Ocean Views are the best in our opinion. Quieter and with a gorgeous outlook

We spent 3 incredible days on Song Saa Island and loved every minute of it. From the attentive staff, to the beautiful, white sandy beaches, to the delicious food, the infinity pool. the privacy of our villa and the ocean views, we were treated to an exceptional experience from the moment we arrived by private boat and were greeted by the staff. It was well worth the effort to get there, viewing the Cambodian countryside on our ride from Phnom Penh. The decor of the individual villas was beautiful and the personal service and attention to detail was the best we have ever experienced. Don't miss the trip to 5 mile beach!!!

Room Tip: It is worth the extra money to have an ocean view.
