Pagoda Rocks is definitely a little gem in Sihanoukville, if you like relaxing high above the town with the rain forest on hand this is the place to be. The staff are extremely accommodating and friendly. The rooms are for the price some of the best in town, we went for dinner and decided to stay the night after having a look at the bungalow we were sold, as they had some free and it was later in the evening they were kind enough to offer us a discount, very much appreciated, spending the night looking over the port on the balcony we woke up to have breakfast in bed, sun shining and the sound of the infinity pool in the background, what more could you want.... Great place will certainly be back. Thank you to all the staff.

There is something about Pagoda Rocks that is hard to put your finger on. And it's good, very very good. There is a nice relaxed calm that makes Pagoda Rocks a fantastic place to stay. Relaxing, private, somewhat luxurious. Set high above Sihanoukville, it is totally separate from the hustle of the beaches. That said, it's only about 5-10 min away by hotel tuk tuk. My recommendation for the location is to be careful with getting a tuk tuk back as many are not prepared to come back. You need to make sure you find one who is willing to take you or avoid the issue altogether by asking the hotel driver to meet you back at a certain time. I can't comment on the food here as we didn't really eat here apart from breakfast. The rooms are self contained cabins and spacious, clean and unique. This is not the Hilton. And thank god for that! Our cabin had a balcony which looked out into the jungle and sitting on that balcony having a beer was a very peaceful experience. Wonderful.

If you get tired after visiting the huge Angkor temples in a heavy cloud of dust among noisy Chinese tourist groups then Pagoda Rocks boutique hotel is the perfect place you need to enjoy a peaceful stay in a green zen heaven garden nicely but efficiently managed by Theary, a young Canbodian woman you can ask anything you need to easy your stay in this wonderful resort located close the Wat Leu Boudhist pagoda on the top of hill far from the crowded bungalows of the very young noisy Serendipity beach. Even there is no business center, the very helpful staff is available to help for any need and the family room number 11 is perfect for a party of 3 like we were for a 4 nights stay before driving to Phnom Penh, the capital city we we now stay before flying back to Paris under snow with airports partly closed for dificult weather conditions. So Pagoda Rocks will definitively stays a wonderful memory to keep in mind even the restaurant was far to compete with the regular wide choice of Cambodian meals you can easily find in any big city. But no place is perfect and people makes the real difference to compare depending what you are looking for when you choose such a special place.

Room Tip: family suite number 11 if you are at least 3 people

I would have to say that if it wasn't for Pagoda Rocks my stay in Sihanoukville would have been far less enjoyable. My husband and I decided to spend a couple of days in Sihanoukville on our Cambodia trip. We are not really into partying but like to try to experience a range of things. We were undecided on where to stay but after looking at a range of reviews decided pagoda rocks was the way to go. When we first arrived we were sceptical about the distance to restaurants etc but after our first visit into the party area of serendipity and occheutteal beaches we were glad of our choice. They were nice to visit (briefly) but very similar to towns like Patong in Phuket and not really our scene.

The hotel itself had lovely quaint bungalows that all had a view of the water. It didn't matter to us that it was the port, it was still something to watch. It was great sitting on the balcony watching the boats come in. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful and the food was great. When it came time to leave they even gave us a free lift to the bus station. Another example of the exceptional service was one night after dinner we wanted to enjoy our coffees on the balcony and the owner escorted us to our bungalow with a torch just to make sure we didn't trip.

The only very small issue was that the hot water ran out a little quickly but the pressure in the shower was great which is a lot better than a number of ore hotels we stayed at in Cambodia.

I would recommend Pagoda Rocks to anyone wanting to visit Sihanoukville but wants to enjoy some peace and quiet at the end of the day. Just remember that Cambodia is not an English speaking country and sometimes things can be lost in translation so just remember to confirm all your requests. This is not just a problem of this hotel ( as I think for the most part their English is excellent) but in Cambodia in general, remember unless you can speak Khmer don't complain, it's their country!!

Sihanoukville has a reputation as being Party Central on the Cambodian Coast. That is why my wife and chose Pagoda Rocks for our five night stay over the New Year as it is some distance from the town. And we were not disappointed.
Located on the top of a hill with only the Monks at Wat Leu as our neighbours Pagoda Rocks ticks all the boxes. Superb infinity pool, well appointed bungalow accommodation, comfortable surrounds and wonderful staff. Theary was a superb host and made sure that any requests were dealt with promptly.
Whilst it did turn out that it was more convenient to eat dinner at the on site restaurant rather than tuk tukking it into Sihanoukville, we felt that the menu gave us plenty of opportunity to sample different dishes each night. Having said that, I personally had the best single dish eaten on our entire four week holiday, that being the chicken amok. It was so good I had it on two separate occasions. And to put the icing on the cake, so to speak, the chef gave me a private cooking lesson on our last morning on the preparation of this fantastic dish. What more could one ask for.
Thank you to Theary and all the staff at Pagoda Rocks.

We stayed 5 nights in December. At first we were dismayed to find out how far it was from town but later appriciated the serenity of the quiet location. It was a perfect spot for some downtime in the middle of a very busy month in Asia. The infinity pool is lovely and we often had it to ourselves. It was lovely to relax, read, and sip sangria or fruit shakes.

The restaurant was fine but a bit limited for a 5 day stay. It was too far to go to other restaurants just for a meal.

We arranged for airport pickup and also had hotel arrange tuk tuks to town and Otres beach as well as for onward journey to Siem Reap. Theary was very helpful with all our arrangements.

We found the staff friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed the other guests at this small hotel. It was very comfortable and homelike.

We really enjoyed our stay over Christmas at this hotel. We were in room 16 which is bungalow set away from the main hotel, in amongst the trees and hillside. We felt completely secluded and private, yet with all the amenities of the hotel 30 seconds away. The room was bright and clean and very spacious, with TV, mini-bar and safe, as well as a huge shower.
The location is a plus I think, you just need to be prepared to pay $7 to go into town/ to the beach.
It's clear that the hotel reads and acts on Tripadvisor reviews, several things picked up in earlier reviews have now changed - free peanuts with drinks for example!
With that in mind, my thoughts are (and you can tell how much we enjoyed the hotel from the minor nature of these criticisms!) are that the hotel should include a kettle in the room (we had to ask for one, but it appeared in minutes) with tea and coffee, the muesli for breakfast should be served in a bigger bowl (it went everywhere as soon as you tried to mix it), and the shower flooded the bathroom pretty quickly - needs better drainage.
The hotel has two tuk-tuks - one of which is made out of half a car, you sit up at the back of the car; lots of fun until you go at speed (a lot faster than your average tuk-tuk because of the car engine) - might be worth considering a windshield for passengers, as a stray stone from a vehicle in front could end up hurting someone very easily.
But all in all, a great hotel I would recommend and a lovely start to our month in Cambodia.
