“An outstanding value in the surroundings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2012

we have spent a few days at this very decent hostel-lodge, enjoyed and appreciated the things that should be natural and a matter-of-course for most Europeans. In Cambodia u have to have a different set of measurements. :o) When an A/C works, meaning it not only emits a noise but actually cools, when the hot water is actually hot, where the bed is not in the exact middle of the oncoming airflow, u have to be appreciative! Here extra attention has been paid to niceties, quality is not only a nice sounding weird expression. Reasonable price for real quality service. A German gentleman runs the premises, who obviously demands attentive services from his staff.

Room Tip: Smaller rooms are not a backdraw here, A/C is more effective when power is not available all day.

We normally review generously based on price paid and expectations laid out, and for Cinderella we paid more than we do normally and, going by their website, had higher expectations.

Arriving late we didn't have much choice to take the room we reserved.

Room website promises "Minibar" - nope. " first class accommodation" - nope. "antique oriental wooden decor" - nope, just old cr*p furniture. "Hot shower" - only after I turned the mains water pressure down! "high speed internet" - nope - flakey 0.1mb/s is all we got, not enough to find anywhere else to go (okay this could be due to another guest downloading a movie, so maybe not their fault) Floor wasn't that clean, so flipflops needed.

Bed was clean comfortable, and we thought it had a much needed mozzie net, but in fact when we undid the knot is must've been some attempt at romantic net as no way did it get close to fitting. The gap under and around the door was probably the reason for mozzies in the room as the door is open to the outside. Had to jam towel underneath. Window looked directy on a concrete ugly wall. AC was very noisy and in the middle of the night made some loud noises and woke us - sounded like someone breaking in. Turned it off, and all we could hear was everyone elses aircon units. Room was very dark, lighting was a dull bulb. Unable to read anything!

Coffee was okay but not great; tea was undrinkable high chlorine. All extra cost of course.

For $15-16 you'd say "fair enough" for the place, but $30 discounted to $25 (standard discount advertised outside) and it is an overpriced hole. Nothing special whatsoever. (They had more expensive rooms but $40 here is far too much).

Beach is also not worth a visit (see other reviews) - if you come to the town - research beaches better than we did/

Oh - first place they demanded payment up front (first place ever to do so) - so glad we only paid one night! Now I wonder why they do this...... Hmmmm.....

Room Tip: Best option for a good room is to look elsewhere. Room 004 was a bit naff.

Overall great quality accommodation at a reasonable price. The rooms are modern, clean and have hot showers and both a/c and fans. You are 10 minutes walk away from the eateries of Serendipity Beach. The staff were friendly and helpful.

The English-speaking German owners know the area well and can help you to arrange activities at better rates than if you try to sort them out yourself. They were extremely polite and friendly and have a genuine interest in your well-being.

The bar is nice and relaxed compared to the general vibe in Sihanoukville, and a great place to get beers and coffee. The food is good if you are looking for some home comforts. The coffee is superb. The beers and wines are also excellent.

Check their website for prices, but they were about mid-range when I was there (but that is still pretty cheap for European travellers). A lot of Cambodian accommodation is very low budget and caters for the backpacker market, but if you have a few euros/dollars/pounds for to spend then this is very pleasant indeed.

Definitely a good bet if you are staying in the area!

Our family stayed here a couple of nights. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. There is a bit of an upscale feel, compared to all the backpacker joints. Our room, with 2 double beds, was very spacious and worked out well for a family. The location is good, close to walk to the beach and many restaurants. It is relatively quiet considering the lodge is on busy street. Service is ok - somewhat of a laissez-faire attitude, but we didn't experience any trouble. They were very flexible with our reservations as we had to change our plans due to an injury.

Room Tip: Room with 2 double beds is large.

It's an outstanding lodge as compare to the Mick & Craig at the opposite. It is run by a German. It has a very unique and beautiful design and decoration. Room is clean, bed is comfortable.

It also has a restaurant and cafe. Breakfast is tasty and delicious. They used lavazza coffee bean.

Staff is friendly but barely understand English.

Highly recommend

Good location, great staff! This place is quite new in town but shouldn't be overlooked. Rooms are new and spotless with really good beds and matress, nice flatscreen TV. Good breakfast too. A real difference to the other places on town, which don't offer the same cleanliness and quality.

The restaurant is really nice too, with really big portions and some good German specialities and beers! European cleanliness standards in the kitchen too. Lovely Italian espresso as well!
