If you are looking for rest and relaxation, the Kern River Inn is the place to go. I stayed there for a couple of days with my fiance during Spring vacation. We had nothing planned, which was wonderful. We were in no rush to do anything. We woke up to a delicious breakfast each morning and good conversation with Virginia. She provided us with things to do locally and recommended a restaurant with a great view. We had a lovely room upstairs- the Blue Room. The bed was very comfortable and we had our own bathroom. There's no DVD player, but video movies were available. Which we were fine with. The inn is very quiet and is located right across from the Kern River. At night you can hear the rushing river if you leave your windows open. It was very soothing. I recommend this place if you are in need of getting away for a day or two.
