What a perfect place for a vacation! The only thing I wish is that I spent more time here!!
The location is right next to some of the best vineyards/wineries and olive tasting locations.
First off...we arranged to be expected late from our drive from Santa Monica...but 3:AM was a bit later than we expected to say the least. None the less we were greated cheerily by our host Joan who is an absolute pleasure. She welcomed my fiance and I in the wee hours of the morning to a beatiful, cozy, spotless, newly renovated guest house room. My fiance and I were so run down from the drive and Joan was receptive to this, she wasted little time directing us to a comfy room with a great big comfortable bed.
A bountiful and healthy breakfast was ready for us for the mornings before we were even up. It was difficult leaving such a comfy bed in the morning...but with all the stuff to do in the immediate area it was reason to get up and enjoy the days. On the property were a couple of horses which my finace just loves. It was great to wake up and walk out on the porch to see a couple of horses (Ringtail and Buddy) greeting you in the morning. We had our own private bathroom, and porch to spend the morning, afternoon or evening until we were ready to tour the area.
Vineyards are right around the bend and are abundant so wine tasting is a must while you're here. A beautiful scenic view awaits every turn you make. There are plenty of great places to eat in the evenings. During the day you can choose between wine tasting, day picnicing, olive oil tasting, or going to the many surrounding parks. In the evenings you can choose many dining choices or stay close to home and enjoy the evening stars. We saw a shooting star...being from New York you don't see this often as well as the countless other stars. Some of the best viewing I have ever seen and I have been to some amazing locations including Maui.
The welcoming commitee included Joan and her two dogs Ella and Honey which were two cute little mushes. We loved playing with the dogs as we have our own. Joan graciously welcomed us in the we hours of the morning during our arrival, served us our breakfasts, greeted us in the mornings and advised us on the local attractions and vineyards. It was an absolute pleasure staying her....nothing short of perfect. We had some great conversations as well as a great stay.
I would advise anyone who is thinking of visiting the Sonoma area to stay in Kenwood Oaks Guest House. We were very luck to stumble upon this place and I owe my fiance for finding such a gem. It was a great way to end our west coast trip and would love to plan a trip only to Sonoma in the near future. When we do, Kenwood Oaks Guest House will be our first and only choice. Again...this place is nothing short of perfect. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this place. From our welcoming committee to the location it was a great piece of paradise.
Thank you Joan and please give Honey and Ella a big hug and we hope to see you all sooner than later. I'm sure Rachel would like pass on some love to Ringtail and Buddy too. Your hospitality will never be forgotten. Thanks for making it an excellent experience.
