“Picture perfect guest house in Sonoma Wine Country”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2013

We stayed at Kenwood Oaks Guest House for three nights and it was wonderful. The place is really well kept, very pretty and Joan, our host, was ever so helpful. She helped us rent bikes (highly recommended) and helped us book a restaurant for dinner. We would definitely recommend Kenwood Oaks to anyone looking for a countryside hideaway with easy and fast access to local wineries- for example by bike - and to Sonoma.

Green Features: Kenwood Oaks is a certified 'green' guest house.

We arrived at Kenwood Oaks Guest House after 5 weeks of travelling and we were tired and in need of a rest. Kenwood Oaks was the perfect place to rejuvenate and get away from the busyness of large cities. We were warmly greeted by Joan, our host, and shown to our beautiful room which was large with a comfy bed and bathroom. The room opened on to a courtyard where we could sit and have a cup of tea and soak up the sun. The guest house was spotless. Breakfast was simple, but that is how we like it, with cereal, fresh fruit, toast, tea/coffee and boiled or poached eggs. Joan was very welcoming and very helpful, giving us travel advice and information about the local area. While there we went to a great little local Italian restaurant, which is in walking distance - nothing fancy but good wholesome food. We would highly recommend this guest house.

Room Tip: Not all rooms have a private bathroom.

Green Features: Excellent. The owner is very conscious of the environment and guests are asked to recycle and be aware of water usage.

Thank you for your kind review! It was a pleasure having you both here and I enjoyed our conversations very much. Hope your trip on to Yosemite was spectacular as well.

I'm a bit late with my review but this place was amazing. We had the most wonderful, relaxing time staying here. Usually we feel like bringing our pup is a problem but staying here was anything but. It was a perfect location to get between Sonoma/Napa/Santa Rosa and a beautiful setting . From the moment we arrived in our room we had a basket of fresh fruit and local bottle of wine, well stocked fridge and plenty of area recommendations. We cannot wait to go back. It truly is a slice of heaven.

In September, I cycled the 100 mile Levi's King Ridge GranFondo , and had the pleasure of staying at Kenwood Oaks. My wife joined me, and we brought our small dog Shorty. We had such a good time at Kenwood Oaks. We stayed in the Valley Oak Suite, which offered the privacy that we wanted and the ability to walk directly out to the grounds. As a cyclist, I especially appreciated the barn outbuilding that I used to prepare my bicycle for the 100 mile event. I was able to store my bike travel case, build up my bike and make the adjustments needed for a safe and memorable ride. Joan was a great host, and we had a lot of laughs with her during our stay. We look forward to our return.

Room Tip: Valley Oak Suite is perfect

Our 12 night stay at the Kenwood Oaks Guest House was a pure delight. We were looking for a dog-friendly getaway to spend the Christmas and New Year's holidays, and the Cottage fit the bill perfectly. While we stayed in the pet-friendly Cottage, we toured the main house and the rooms were beautiful as well. We were initially concerned about the weather, but the weather was actually quite nice, even with the occasional rain. The setting of this B&B is beautiful even in the middle of winter.

The Cottage is fully equipped with just about anything you would want, and the washer and dryer in the unit came in handy on our long stay. The grounds are so beautiful and relaxing, with horses, Honey the dog (and visiting Annie), as well as Moxie the cat who lives in the barn.

While the main house and Cottage are both first rate facilities, the real star here is the owner, Joan. She truly goes far beyond expectations of a host, catering to any and all needs. She gladly provides helpful information about area attractions and discounted coupons for wine tastings. She is constantly replenishing all the generous provisions in the Cottage and inquiring as to what more she can do for you. This is truly a level of service beyond our experience. She somehow manages to make you feel welcomed as a guest, but also as a friend as well. We leave reluctantly, feeling that we have a friend for life in Joan, and look forward to a return visit. We can't recommend Joan and her Guest House highly enough!

Kenwood Oaks has a special place in my and my boyfriend's hearts after our stay. The drive to the property is beautiful. It is centrally located near all Sonoma and Napa sights, and getting to the Russian River and Alexander Valley too was easy. Joan couldn't have been a better host. She is a great person who sincerely cares about her guests and their level of comfort during her stay. Joan does an excellent job of maintaining a comfortable green property and constantly goes out of her way for you. The rooms are charming and relaxing with views of the property. The hammock, the garden, the horses, the dog, the cat, and birds all add to the ambiance. The wide, open living room was one of my favorite parts of our 3 night stay. It's a spectacular place to enjoy your morning coffee and breakfast. We cannot wait to visit again!

We loved the location and coziness of this beautiful home. It's off the beaten path, but still very close to area attractions and good restaurants. Joan was a very welcoming host - giving us exceptional advice in choosing restaurants and local activities. We would definitely stay here again!
