Owner description: The Reserve Room is a revolutionary concept in a number of ways. In the first place, it's probably the first wine tasting room you've ever been in with chairs, tables and napkins. But more important, the RESERVE ROOM takes you on the ultimate wine country tasting journey unlike anything you've experienced in a wine tasting room before. Each guest takes a seat in our comfortable and intimate room where you can enjoy wine-inspired art, a little music and views of the hillside vineyards of Kenwood located just out our window. You are then treated to a seven-course pairing menu that includes seven Mayo Family Reserve wines crafted by Winemaker Michel Berthoud and seven tasting dishes created and prepared by Chef Max Porter-Elliott to compliment the seven wines. The Mayo Family RESERVE ROOM is our opportunity to take you further into the wine and food experience that defines Wine Country.

They had real food samples (not just crackers & cheeze) to go with the different wine selections

“Try the food and wine pairing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2011

This got us started in Sonoma, and the staff couldn't have been more cordial. Great food and wine pairing opportunity, we did it for Sunday "brunch." A great value and some great wines.

“Great wine and great food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2011

This was a super fun tasting. The chef was great and the wines were so good! This is not a winery, but a restaurant style table sit down tasting. The server was so friendly and we had so much fun here. Def recommend this!

We really enjoyed this tasting. The chef was gracious about teaching us about how to pair food and wine. Excellent experience.

“Very Good - but there is no atmopshere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2011

I was expecting amazing things from Mayo Reserve Room given the stellar reviews on Trip Advisor. It was not amazing . . .but it was very good.

PROS
The seven course wine and food pairing is good value at $35 and a is wonderful way to spend a leisurely afternoon in Sonoma
Service was friendly
Tasting pours were generous
The gourmet food was different and interesting
The chef visited the table with each pairing and described tastes re: wine/food

CONS: My main criticism is that there was absolutely no atmosphere. Considering Sonoma is so beautiful and I had been to many breathtaking wineries in the days leading up to my tasting at Mayo Reserve Room I think I expected more in the atmosphere/beauty department. I also believe the service could have been slightly more professional.

Having noted these pros and cons I realize that I am being too critical and I would likely return to the Mayo Reserve Room in the future as the service, food and wines were all very good.

Enjoy the goat!
