So my best man and I were in the Eastern Sierra looking for a good place for my bachelor party. We stayed in Mammoth the first 2 nights and came to June Lake. First stop was at a place in the center of town. The Vacancy sign was by itself (NO not lit up) and we walked in. The "gentleman" at the desk says, "No. we don't have any rooms. You are the third person in the last fifteen minutes to walk in and everywhere is booked. Better hurry." Yeah...thanks for being rude and sending us on our way. We happened to be heading north (or whatever you'd call it) and notice this place on the left and the Vacancy sign seems to show availability. We walk in...the nicest man ever informs us we are in serious luck as they have 1 room for 1 night available. We were looking for a Motel room. We got a Chalet for a night that was fully furnished with more things than we could possibly need. Rate was less than motels with no mini fridge or microwave. The man at the desk chatted with us about the KINGS Stanley Cup Run and we felt right at home as we had watched every single game just as he and his enormous family had. One of his sons turned out to be in college in a town 10 minutes from where I live in northern San Diego County. Water pressure was plentiful, hot water not a problem, stove was a hell of a lot better than using the camping stove in a lake parking lot like we had planned on, and the kitchen's abundance of pots/pans/utensils made me feel like I was in complete control of a meal I've made in extreme wind and darkness before (a.k.a. I made it as good as at home). Stay here if you have a chance. If you have a family, kids of any age, are a couple with no kids, or on a guys trip without friends who get loud and/or obnoxious this place will exceed expectations for the price. If you are looking for glamor, save it for the beaches or wherever else they have HIlton hotels. This place will make you feel like you are far away in a private mountain lodge if you are ready to be consumed with the same obsession John Muir spent a lifetime writing and fantasizing about: The Eastern Sierra Nevada.
