I visited this elegant place this past weekend with my girlfriend, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised with everything. A friend got us a two-night stay as a Christmas gift. We didn't even know where Julian was to be honest. But when we got there, we knew why our friend got us this particular gift. What a beautiful place! When we first arrived, it was snowing a little bit, and it was simply gorgeous. The mountains had sprinkles of snow everywhere and it was really a sight to see. We didn't arrive until almost midnight, so we didn't really get to see much of the area until the morning.

When we woke up, we took a quick walk to check out the surroundings. It was beautiful. Ed does all the landscaping, and it must be quite the chore because it looks great! Then we got to sit with the rest of the couples and have Dawn's breakfast. MMMMM good! Loved the food!
The people were friendly and interesting. Dawn and Ed were fun to talk to as well. Everything was charming! She even rang the little bell when it was time to eat! Cute!

We stayed in the Italia Stanza room and we had no complaints. It was very nice and the fireplace made it very cozy. For the price, I would
say that this is a very good bargain for a bed and breakfast. The food was very high quality and the rooms were extravagant. But the thing about this place that makes it worth staying is the hospitality. Dawn and Ed- you two are great! Keep up the great work.
You made it a pleasant stay! I wish we could have stayed a whole week, but we have a business to run also!

Although I was not overly impressed with the town of Julian in general, I WAS impressed with the Butterfield Bed and Breakfast.

Our first trip to Julian and stay at the Butterfield was so pleasant and enjoyable we are starting to plan our next one. Dawn and Ed were absolutely wonderful hosts and we thank them for the advice they gave us. The room was sparkling clean, comfortable and beautiful. The food was great, especially the brownies (my wife did find out that I tried them!). The Butterfield is highly recommended!

With a beautiful setting in the trees, this bed & breakfast is a wonderful stay. The host's Dawn and Ed are hardworking yet laidback. They are extremely accomodating and what ever you do, do not miss breakfast at 9am! They can please any pallat and the servings are plentiful. It is conveniently located so walking to downtown are quick and easy and drives to hiking and horseback riding is just minutes away. One tip would be to bring a smaller car, which we did. The parking spots are rather small and slightly challenging to get to. The rooms have cable TV as well as wireless internet. There are only five rooms, so book early and enjoy Julian!

This was a great place to stay. The Inn is beautifully decorated and very cozy. The innkeepers are great people and the breakfasts are delicious. It's the best B&B I've ever stayed in.
