“Nice stay, in town B&B.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2009

Well I went to Julian based on a review in the travel section of the LA Times. The town is very small but charming. This B&B has alot to offer. It's within walking distance to the main strip. It has a nice pool and spa. The owner is very nice and cooks a mean breakfast. Overall a nice stay. A few minor complaints are the rooms are a little small but they do have nice amenities like an LCD tv, with a nice stereo. The spa for our room could use some bush trimming, I was a little concerned about spiders when sitting in the spa the bushes came right up to the edge. Besides that it was easy to park, there were nice surprises like brownies in the middle of the day, and Jim the owner was very nice. I would stay there again.

I loved this place; it really feels like home; except with a view, comfortable bed, private (and clean) jacuzzi and fresh cookies. The golden retrievers that roam around the place are so friendly and just make this B&B even better. The food is fantastic; it's real comfort food and done very well. The dining room has a great view of Julian and because the house only has a few bedrooms it allows for a very cozy feeling over the group breakfast. While I am, happily, no longer with the person I went with, I loved this place so much I would go back with my current spouse (just, in a different room). :-)

Four of us (2 couples) stayed 2 nights at the Eaglenest and couldn't have been more pleased! From the moment we walked in, Jim and Julie made us feel at home but far enough away from home to be relaxed! The rooms are spotless and the wonderful breakfasts were awesome. Jim is some cook! It was so relaxing to sit around the pool/hot tub area. Large apricot trees shade the deck and give a feeling of privacy and serenity. But, watch out for those ripe apricots falling without notice! And, don't forget to sit on the deck after dark and watch the show put on by the heavens! WHAT STARS!!!!!. You'll love the entire experience.

For two very busy people getting away for a weekend in the mountains this property was the perfect choice!
The B&B is set above the town on a rise and a bit away from the center, so it is very quiet with a beautiful view down the valley from the common areas. We were met by another couple who were returning for their fourth visit which was great to hear and they raved about the location. We had the winter room - woodburning fireplace, private hot tub on the patio, and the view down the valley and over the pool (yes, a pool in Julian!) This room is on the 1st floor with NO SHARED WALLS which was great. Everything was so clean, too. The weather was cold and howl-ly each night but the hot tub was perfect for an afterdark dip and then local wine (pre-arranged) & Julian pie by the fire. There is a pantry with sodas, books, games, recent dvds, and the items you always forget to pack. The breakfasts are huge and delicious. The innkeepers, Jim & Julie very welcoming and the resident golden-beasties, Luke & Leah are fabulous. This will be our local get-away!

My wife and I stayed at this bed & breakfast to wind up an 11 day west coast trip. This was the perfect ending to a hectic trip that began in Las Vegas. Julie and Jim are excellent hosts. They ensure that all your needs are met from the time you check in to the time you check out. Julie was able to secure a carriage ride for us and an early morning horseback ride at Julian Stables. Jim was also able to give directions for a drive that allowed us to visit a number of wineries within 5 miles of Julian. Jim’s breakfast was incredible. It began with a yogurt parfait and cinnamon toast. Then there was banana bread pancakes and fresh squeezed orange juice. If you are looking to relax and unwind this is the perfect location.

This B&B was a little slice of heaven. Upon check-in, Jim greeted us and gave us a little tour. Our room was so cute, with a fireplace, hottub, and a balcony overlooking the pool and the hills beyond. The beautiful pool area has a little swing and a hammock (!!!). The property is a short walk downhill to the charming town of Julian. Breakfast took place on the patio upstairs, overlooking the valley. We enjoyed a wonderful breakfast with nice company. The dogs even visited for a little while. I highly recommend the Eaglenest for any special occasion or just a getaway for no reason. It was truly memorable. My only recommendation is to stay longer!

We took a trip to the beach (see Pelican Cove Inn - Carlsbad) and then the mountains. We found Eaglenest listed here on TripAdvisor and booked for 2 nights. It was WONDERFUL! The property is well cared for and the breakfasts were awesome! It was a great way to end our vacation - staying at "the nest." If you love BnB's you'll not be disappointed here.
