This must be one of the most charming places in whole California. We stayed at the Gnome house (2 people) and Tree House (1 person). We absolutely loved everything and will go back, for sure!!

Shadow Mountain Ranch B&B is located just outside the quaint Historic town of Julian, in San Diego County's foothills. We found it by accident, and boy...are we glad we did ! The owner Jim, and his Son Tracy, have a special interest in making their guests feel like an extended part of thier family. We met Emily the Grandaughter, and Delynn, Jim's Daughter, who is an accomplished Opera Singer (you can hear her beautiful voice coming from the Chapel if your are lucky). It has a rustic ranch house/cabin feel to it. There is lots to do there, or nothing to do, depending on how you feel that day. We sat for hours on the patio, overlooking the resident horses, wild turkeys, and deer wondering thru the property. We ate lunch and dinner a Jeremys on the Hill, and pizza at the Red Barn, both of which were great choices. Wine tasting at Orfilia was fun and entertaining ! We are already planning our next visit back.

We wanted to stay in town, but everything was sold out. We found Shadow Mountain Ranch and are very glad we did. Loretta and Jim are such lovely people and the breakfasts each day were AMAZING. The only thing I did not like (we stayed in the gnome home) was that the bathroom was not separate from the bedroom. It was a a little awkward at times. Other than that, we loved the property and would stay again just because Loretta and Jim were so nice and welcoming.

I have been to Shadow Mountain a couple of times now, I love the atmosphere not as much as I love the people who run it. Loretta and Jim immediately became FAMILY. If you're looking for a wonderful quiet place to relax please check it out. You will be missed Loretta
