A must for fans of Gram Parsons or those interested in one of the most bizarre episodes in rock history. Conveniently located near the JT park entrance and a very good Thai restaurant. Stayed in #9, Emmylou's room. No ghosts reported.

This is THEE place to stay if you are touring through & playing at Pappy & Harriet’s or anywhere else in the desert for that matter .
Three Chord Justice always stays here when we are gigging at P&H & we just LOVE it!
Grams room is always our first choice but we recently stayed in the Emmy Lou room & it’s beautiful!
Also, check out the other super hip pads they rent out on the property closer to the park.
The entire band can stay at these places & that makes it affordable.
JTI ROCKS!
See you later this year!

Room Tip: Must love music!!

My wife and I just returned from a 2 night stay at the Joshua Tree Inn. This was my first time at this hotel although I have been to the area many times over the last 15 years.

The hotel isn't fancy, but nothing is in Joshua Tree. It has a clean, retro desert charm. I chose it because of it's connection with Gram Parson the "father of country rock" who died in room eight from an overdose in 1973. Gram was a member of the Byrds and The Flying Burrito Brothers. He was also friends with Keith Richards and Mick Jagger, hanging out with Keith in the dessert and with the Stones while they were in exile in France. Because of that, the room has been made into a bit of a shrine. There are several rock posters on the wall and many a guitar player and musician have left their CD's on a table or guitar picks with their band or their names on them stuck between the glass and frame of the posters. There is also a book where people have written various thoughts about Gram. Outside the front door is another shrine of various items in memory of Gram- a cowboy hat, empty tequila bottle, a small cross, a candle, etc.

Aside from the Gram Parsons connection, the hotel has a cool, funky, retro charm that is very enjoyable. It has a Joshua tree growing right in the courtyard and a fire pit where guests can come and enjoy each others company in the evening.

It is small but social. Most people sit at table right outside their room in the evening. It would be easy to walk around and make new friends sharing stories about the dessert and Joshua Tree.

The hotel has a very large pool. Perfect for taking a dip after a hot day hiking in the desert.

The only negative is that it is close to the highway, so you get truck noise early in the morning. But everything in JT is near the Hwy so I'm not sure you can avoid it.

I would stay here again if I wanted to visit the National Park and be close to the entrance. Although this isn't bad for small kids, I think this is a place more enjoyed and appreciated by adults who want a mellow experience.

Room Tip: Go to the hotel web site. There are specific rooms that may appeal to 60's-70's music fans.

This place is like a weird, but awesome Melrose Place. The first night we stayed in Gram's room (Room 8) and I loved all the memorabilia. Lots of stuff to read in the room. The room was comfy and clean, and there were no problems until we were woken up at 2:30 am by some freaky happenings in our room... I wont get into detail but it turns out the guests in Room 7 were on the Ouija board (rude). But other than that, I would stay in Gram's room again.

The second night we stayed with friends in Donovan's Suite (Room 11) and I really liked this room since it had a kitchen, and a bigger backyard.

Every night we had a fire in the fire pit in the courtyard and we met a lot of the other guests. Everyone was coming and going, hanging out, drinking and offering tips on where to eat, check out, etc. That's why it reminded me of Melrose Place... but with less dramatics ;).

We loved our stay so much we're already planning another trip back!

CUTE old style "motor inn" type place. Let's call it vintage and cool. We did NOT know about the history surrounding this quiant little inn (GOOGLE it....pretty interesting). A lot of musicians from the 1960's stayed here apparently...and one of them died here.....so the rooms are named after people who actually may have stayed IN THEM. Room 11, the "Donovan", is the larger of them. It had two large beds, in two seperate rooms, a kitchen, a dining table, a private little outdoor patio area, shower (no tub) in a smaller bathroom. Was the only room available for reservations we made about 1-2 weeks out.....so if you WANT a specific room - make reservations well in advance. The heater was a little noisy in that room, but it was okay. From the phone call for reservations to the moment we walked in the inn's lobby service from "Marcu" was great. A nice calming young man who helps manage the property. Offered us chai tea upon arrival (which btw, was the best I've ever had). Be prepared to the vintage atmosphere and you'll love EVERYTHING about this place. If you're not in to older motels, skip it. This place is ALL ABOUT the character, vibe, getting to hang with like minds, and relaxing. Koi fish to feed, chandeliers outside, turquoise doors, a shrine, a pool, orange walls, hippie type kharma, central dining room to gather with guests with wi fi, etc.... GO for it.....meet the people, hang out in the courtyard with a fire, swim, or just enjoy your vintage accommodation......

Its not the Ritz Carlton, but it's clean, quite and unique. Coffee in the morning. Would be cool pool to hang out at when it's warmer.
