“Great place to stay to see the park”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2014

We really enjoyed this little inn. It was clean and the grounds were wonderful, there was no one on sight, but we never needed anyone so that was fine for us. There is highway noise and cabin 5 was really bright inside at night from the lights outside shining in. Wonderful place, we highly recommend!

Room Tip: There is no pool, but I cannot uncheck the box. Cabin 5 was lovely, but there is no kitchenette if...

This is the second year that I have spent my Birthday in Joshua Tree and stayed at Spin and Margie's Desert Hideaway. S&M is incredibly charming, clean, comfortable and relaxing. We have stayed in rooms 5 & 4, both with their own private desert garden/patios, which are perfect for early morning sunrises and evening star gazing. We spent the first day hiking through JTNP and then grabbed some slices from Pie for the People to enjoy back in our charming room. I enjoyed a long soak in room 4's fantastic tub and watched Roman Holiday. The second day, thanks to Mindy, we drove out to the desert and checked out Phillip K Smith's, Lucid Stead. It was a perfect weekend getaway! We plan to make it our yearly winter/birthday tradition!

Four of us stayed at Spin and Margie's Desert Hideway. We had plenty of space. The rooms are charmingly furnished in desert style and were very clean. We loved the whole atmosphere. Spin, Margie and CJ (room attendant) could not have been more welcoming or helpful.

My wife and I made a quick trip out to Joshua Tree for my birthday weekend for a couple days and really enjoyed staying here. Even though my wife was a little under the weather, the place was very nice for her to rest a day and recuperate.

The place is very much self-service. The room is open when you arrive and the key is waiting for you. It is not too far off Highway 62, so it's easy to find, although I would suggest arriving during the day because when it gets dark in Joshua Tree, it gets VERY DARK.

It is an easy drive back to "downtown" Joshua Tree to find places to eat. And if you want to stock up on groceries and cook your own food, there are grocery stores in neighboring Yucca Valley and 29 Palms (depending which direction you're coming).

We were in Joshua Tree during an extremely cold spell (on one day the high by the hotel was probably in the low 40s and the park was in the 30s), but the room kept us warm and cozy. We got some visiting crickets in our sink because it was so cold, but they were quiet ones. And they were just visiting to stay warm.

The owners popped by once to see if we needed anything (we asked for extra tea).

The room was decorated nicely and there are small, yet extremely helpful signs to tell you where to find the thermostat for the heater (that was a very big deal) and how to turn on the swamp cooler (didn't need to try that!) and other things in the room.

There were just two of us in Suite 1, but it can handle a larger group.

Every other year we travel to the Morongo Valley for the artists open studio tour. We have stayed at a number of locations in the area but once we discovered Spin and Margie’s Desert Hideaway we always go back. The property is well maintained and clean. It is also well stocked with utensils I the kitchen and little touches abound in the room. There are things like books on the area to look at and read and movies to watch. The grounds are also wonderfully kept.

Spin and Margie’s is a wonderful retreat in the upper desert.

What a find! Thanks to tripadvisor we stayed here, and it is beautiful. We stayed in Western nomad no4 cabin and it was gorgeous. So much character and the terrace was great for coffee in the morning.

What a special place! The cabin has everything you need and there are so many amenities nearby you can either eat out or grab food to cook in. We did both.

Eat breakfast at Crossroads Cafe. Make the short drive to Pappy and Harriet's Pioneertown Palace. We were lucky enough to see a great band to accompany our out of this world chilli. A real fun night!

Trekking in Joshua Tree National Park was incredible and Spin and Margie's is perfectly located for the west entrance and town centre. Also, very welcomed maps and info in the room on arrival.

I can understand why Joshua Tree is a place many people get spiritual about, and Spin and Margie's is the same. A real hideaway. Don't stay anywhere else in Joshua Tree!
