“A Romance with River's End”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2011

We had reservations at the Timber Cove Inn. We drove along the cliffs in the storm and when we got there it was closed due to a power outage. I was wet, tired, and hungry and I couldn't stand the thought of the drive all the way back home.
We found River's End on the way back-in Jenner. Evan told us we could look at the cabin before we
took the room. We were so thrilled
by the romantic little cabin and the sound of the surf.
They kept their kitchen open late
for us and we had a wonderful
dinner.
It was a very pleasant surprise to find th and we will certainly be back!!

Really enjoyed our stay. The cabins were well decorated and very very clean... the restaurant was amazing. Impeccable service. We did not plan our trip, and found the place on the road, it was a great surprise to find it.

Perfect place to start your drive south along Highway 1 after visiting vineyards in Russian River.
We stayed in Cabin 1. Room spacious but basic. No television or phone (which we found part of the attraction). Bathroom basic but fine. The best bit about the room is the balcony which overlooks the stunning pacific/russian river join. On a clear day, you can see seals and sea lions.
We ate in the restaurant (there is no other choice apart a dodgy looking indian down the road). Food was very nic, quite expensive but lots of fish on offer. You are paying for the view which was stunning.
You must be prepared for the mist. It may not lift for your entire stay but we still found it a wonderful remote and romantic place.

Top Tip - after arriving, drive around to the other side of the river and walk on the headland/beach. Stunning views.

We needed a chance to get away and focus on the "us" of our relationship. This place was perfect. No frills, a beautiful view, a wonderful bed, and no distractions -none. No TV, so no Giants and breaking news updates; no internet access, so no online poker and emails to answer; and no landline phone. We read, we hiked, we talked, we used the bed, we watched the kayakers on the Russian River below us (a stone's throw) and listened to the sounds of the ocean just beyond. The cabins are small (cozy). The towels were threadbare. The restaurant didn't live up to expectations at all. BUT, our getaway was just as advertised: a quiet moment at River's end that allowed us to renew our commitment to one another.
Be forewarned! The first night we were surrounded by a billion stars and a half-moon setting into the sea. We kept all the doors and windows open all night. the second night we did the same and woke to heavy fog and absolutely freezing temperatures. Great combination, but you'd bettter pack for both possibilities.

This resort is without any doubt the best bang for your buck in California. I have stayed at nearly every place in Napa and several in Sonoma...this place is the best for your money.

Amber was the person who took my reservation via phone and checked me upon arrival. She was fantastic...very fast check-in and double checked our restaurant reservation.

I stayed in cabin #4 based on reviews I saw here. It was absolutely fantastic! Great view on one of the coziest couches I've ever laid on. The rooms are clean with what appears to be new carpet, new linens, and nice rustic/maritime decor. The bathroom is very basic and small...viny floors...but clean.

After a day of wine tasting, the idea of eating at a restaurant where we were staying was perfect...and the food was amazing. We did oysters and champagn to start with ($25 for two). I had the filet and my girlfriend had the ahi tuna with a split of robert sindsky pinot blanc...everything was great and reasonably priced. Finished with creme brulee for two...and a scotch...great dinner and service. Total was $150.

We arrived in Jenner out of season and with about 50 miles of gas left in the tank at 7 in the evening, so pretty much needed to book into one of the two places available.

What I was not expecting was one of the best nights I've ever spent on vacation. We got a discount on Cabin #2, booked in and went to dinner in the restaurant next door. The steak was literally the best my partner has ever eaten (and we eat out in London a lot). Staff were friendly - particularly our lovely waitress who has been working there 10 yrs ++.

The cabin was a real escape from the outside world - although the fog had rolled in and we didn't have much of a view, it was very cosy with the fireplace and wonderfully relaxing without phone reception or a TV. The bed was huge and comfortable but my highlight was reading the guestbook from all the other people who'd stayed in our cabin over the years.

This was possibly the most romantic place I've ever stayed. In the morning, the fog had lifted and we saw the seals on Goat Rock Beach (and went down to get a close-up view once we'd checked out).

I really can't recommend this place more highly.
