My spouse and I just spent a relaxing and romantic weekend at TCI. The Inn is located on a scenic point of land right on the Northen Cali Coast. Its located app. 2 hours north of San Francisco. It pretty much requires driving the PCH H W 1 for app 30 miles. Both the good news and the bad news is: It is 12 miles from any town or civilization on a serious curvey highway. So once here you wont want to drive to other places for breakfast or dinner. Having said that the restaurant is very good! We met a young but inspired chef that really wants to please his clients. We had breakfast, and dinners here and they were quite good! The A framed main lobby/restaurant/bar is both rustic and beautiful at the same time. The head bartender has 18 years experience and can make pretty much any drink. The views from restaurant and bar are stunning of the pacific ocean. The property is being managed by an extemely well prepared general manager: Keith Hill who has experience in Yosemenity,(sp) Ohio, New England, and I believe Florida. Keith has only been on property for app 7 months but from our opservation he has put together a solid staff in all key components of the property. Our welcoming was warm and fuzzy from the desk staff, our room was speck and span clean. The bar staff were friendly and knowledgeable. And as mentioned the cusine in the dining area was quite good and reasonablly priced. As to the rooms: We had a Cove side room and found it small but warm and cozy with a cozy little see through stove in the middle of the room set to a thermastat. No need to worry about wood in the middle of the night! The Cove was right outside our sliding door and balcony and we could listen to the rolling waves crashing into rocks below. We liked our room but except for the water closet with its own little room and door its all one room. A very nice shower is on one wall of the room and is a part of the hotel room. No real privacy here. There is no bathtub either. Sink and counter is across from the shower also in the main room. The Inn does advertize that they have rooms with hot tubs but ours did not have such. Looks like rooms in main part of hotel are either over the lobby or over the dining room. Those could have some noice up until latter part of evening. Looks like things calm down by around 11:00PM. We attended a Mushroom gathering weekend activity with a group of app 12 other people and it was really enjoyable. The GM brought in one of national leaders in Mycology as our resource and he was quite interesting. I believe the management plans on similar activities during times of the year and we highly recommend experiencing both the TCI and one of these activities!
