“Worth the drive! Spectacular views!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

First of all I want to say the staff was really nice. Helpful, funny and dowb to earth. Our room - 204 was beyond our expectations. Recently renovated it was a bit more modern that we expected but this wasnt a bad thing. (Personally I dont mind a rustic room) ...Corner room - with beautiful views of the ocean. Loved the big bathtub. Just wish the fireplace was built into the wall rather than electric. The amazing fireplace in the main room made up for this tho.
It was storming outside which made it all the more worthwhile to enjoy our room and the grounds even more.
All the food was quite delicious too and I was delighted that even though its far into the woods the chef & kitchen there really know whats up. I highly recommend this place.

My husband and I needed to rest and pull over from the dark winding roads of Rte. 1 for the night-we pulled in here. We knew it would be pricy but we needed a warm, clean bed and a meal for the night. We splurged on a room overlooking the ocean-the views were lovely. The room was small and did not offer much amenities but the bed was very comfortable with soft, warm sheets. The tub leaked water while taking a bath and we could hear some strange noises in the morning from the heated wood of our room and tearing paper sound from the front desk as our room was right above it. No cellular service was available despite the free WiFi, but that wasn't bad-we had solace for the night. The restaurant at the Inn, Alexander's, requires reservations and surprisingly they were nearly booked when we made ours. The meal was delicious but the seasonal fish portion was small. And the service pleasant but on the slow side. The outdoor firepit was a great place to warm up and socialize with other guests at night as were the walking trails along the coast during the day. And there's a great story behind the obelisk that is erected outside the inn. And there were plenty of other interesting activities to enjoy near the inn. We definitely paid for the remoteness and scenery of this inn but if we can splurge again, we would go back!

I just wanted to write a quick review after my stay at the Timbercove Inn this weekend. I traveled for NYE with my boyfriend, we are a young couple in our early 30's, frequent travelers, and we explicitly checked the Trip Adviser reviews before we chose this hotel. We stayed in room 205, an Ocean View room. Unfortunately our experience related more to the negative reviews than the positive, and I usually take reviews with a hearty grain of salt. There were a lot of missteps here that just don't add up to a $250+ a night experience.

This hotel means very well, they have an amazing property with lots of great perks including a amazing view, restaurant with a view, fireplace outdoors, indoor fireplace, and generally friendly staff. That being said, our room was quite small for the price, bathroom was outdated, it did indeed include paper, not glass cups, though the staff was flexible about letting you borrow wine glasses. They don't mention this on their website, but they don't offer room service, however they will let you carry your own food to your room. Our room, room 205, overlooks the fire pit which wasn't terrible but wasn't very private and marred our view of the coast.

Perhaps I'm spoiled coming from San Francisco where there are many restaurants with quality service and great food but the restaurant was not very good, and unfortunately it's the only place to eat in the area. The service was slow and awkward, which would be forgivable if the food then came out warm, which it mostly didn't. The restaurant and bar staff seem stressed out, rushed, and irritated with each other. Alexander's makes strong efforts to feel like a well maintained high quality spot, but if you are traveling in part to enjoy well prepared food, this restaurant will definitely mar your experience. There is an amazing view and if the actual food isn't that important to you you will be treated to an amazing show when the sun sets.

Reluctantly have to admit that I was probably mislead by their snazzy, hip, well photographed website, and though I believe that they are certainly trying, and they mean well, it's just not worth the price.

We stayed here on a drive from San Francisco to Seattle, and were so impressed by the breathtaking drive up Hwy 1. Despite some people on the forums freaking me out about it, it was really manageable and just stunning!
The Inn itself is in a beautiful spot, right on the coastal cliffs, and the grounds are great for just walking around.
This place is expensive, and as we were on an 8 week holiday, we couldn't afford to splurge everywhere, so we got the most basic queen room, which was on the first floor overlooking the lounge area of the hotel. It was small and very basic, and it was not inexpensive. Nevertheless, the bed was comfortable.
The most disappointing thing was that when we arrived in the afternoon, we were too late to get a reservation for the restaurant. This place is isolated, and there was nowhere that we could safely drive to in order to eat. The Inn did not inform us that their restaurant was usually booked out at the weekend, and no room service was offered. I feel it would have been courtesy for them to have let us know that bookings for the restaurant were highly recommended.
As it was, we did get a seat at the bar, which had a limited menu, but this area was very understaffed. The bartender was cool and very friendly, but was completely slammed as his employers had obviously skimped on staffing.
If you can afford it, get one of the more expensive rooms, but otherwise I'd probably stay somewhere else.

Recently celebrated our anniversary at Timber Cove Inn and were pleasantly surprised by the stunning lodge that welcomed us as well as the beautiful location on the coast. Our cove view room offered views of the coast to the south and to our surprise, the sunrise from the east. The amenities in the room were perfect, from the fireplace and walk-in shower to the luxurious bedding and robes. Alexander's Restaurant was intimate and cozy with a fireplace in the center of the room and floor to ceiling windows spanning the west wall offering spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean. The menu features many fresh seafood dishes as well as hearty fare, salads and not to be missed desserts. We enjoyed a cocktail in the Sequoia Lounge, near the massive stone fireplace, before heading down to dinner. After breakfast in the restaurant we took advantage of the many trails along the bluff for a casual walk. The knowledgeable, friendly staff gave us recommendations on wineries and places to visit while in the area. We will definitely be returning in the future!

Room Tip: Rooms on the south side offer cove view and closer proximity to the restaurant and exercise room.

We are just home from a 1 night stay here and we loved it. It was so quiet and peaceful. We had a clean quiet room. Check in was pleasant. The room was cool as our bed was in a loft area. We had a balcony and a beautiful view. our room was inside the lodge. We went for a couple of drinks at the bar and found the staff a little slow. We were recommended to make dinner reservations as it was going to be busy. In fact it wasn't in the end and I was skeptical on how good the food was. But hey after a couple of drinks and a dark raining night we weren't going to chance that crazy road. Food was phenomenal. Service was spectacular. After we took the rest of our wine to the lobby. We were supplied with an array of board games to play by the fire. The location and view is outstanding and will be back again. Enjoy guys it's worth a trip for the quietness

Dear ATHBOY1,

After reading your review, as you might imagine I am beaming with pride. We put a lot of effort into the dining experience, and your description of relaxation and enjoyment in the lounge playing board games by the fire is.....music to our ears. Thank you!

Stayed here in August from the UK. This place was beautiful. Lovely rooms and friendly staff. Stunning walks along the coast and spectacular drives along highway 1. We found this place to be great value. We did not eat in the restaurant but the bar food was delicious. The outdoor fire was a great place to sit with a glass of wine. I would definitely come back here

Dear Bridget L,

We would love to have you back when you cross the pond - and the continent - once again to join us! We have enjoyed serving many guests from the UK recently and hope you will encourage your friends to join us as well. We serve delightful beer-battered fish and chips in the Sequoia Lounge for lunch and dinner, but I suppose when you start with such fresh product it is hard to prepare something that doesn't hit the mark!
