“Stump Beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

Stump Beach offers one of the few sandy beaches in the area. An easy access 1/4 mile trail leads down to the beach. Low tide exposes a small cave and plenty of kelp. There is a lot of driftwood from the creek inlet as well. Overall, it is a rather small area, but very beautiful and fun for the kids to play in the sand.

“Magnificient”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

We went up for the weekend and had a wonderful time. The ocean is beautiful and the cliffs and rocks make a spectacle not to be missed. We even saw a baby sea lion playing in the surf and diving around the coastal rocks. The sounds and power of the surf are just amazing to anyone accustomed to the gentle surf usually experienced on the south Atlantic coast.

“The highlight of Sonoma coast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2012

The weathered sandstone shoreline has eroded into fantastic patterns and forms. The shore pines and sunny aspect sets it apart from the rest of the coastline.

“Since there's nothing else to do...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

You can hike on sort of trails through the knee high sea grass at salt point state park. Eventually you'll get down by the coast, and see some cool cliffs, rock formations, sea life, etc. That really about it. It's a very quiet place in general, and the hikes are basically level, so not too strenuous. If you're a kayaker or surfer you might find more to do here. Divers might want to check it out first, waves, currents etc don't seem too friendly. Kill an hour or so here since it's only 10-15 minutes from the lodge, then go back to your spot and drink and eat!

“Sonoma Coast Most Spectacular Seaside Trail for Walking or Riding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

Just north of the visitors center at Gerstle cove, there is the most amazing single track trail that winds right along the coast. You will see the Best of the Sonoma beaches, coves, cliffs and waves, up close and with hardly any people.

If you ride mtn bikes, this trail rocks! Over 2 miles of easy to technical riding you will love.

Be sure to also check out the Rhodadendren Forest just east of Hwy 101.
