This is a luxurious, charming, comfortable getaway in a serene hillside setting....and these folks have earned every kind comment one can muster. WOW!
Everything at this inn was perfect. No kidding! From the moment the dramatic gated entry swung open to this hilltop hideaway, to our quick return to pick up a journal we'd left (yes, they even called us before we were too far away - to ask us if we wanted them to mail it back!) every detail has been attended to. What an amazing little piece of heaven, the Jamul Haven truely is!
Who wouldn't want to stay at a magnificent Bed and Breakfast, where you can soak up the beauty of the early morning in one of their hillside spas, (yes, 2 of them) take a dip in the big stone pool and even slide down the custom water slide (hey, I actually tried this thing-twice...had a ball!) and mosey on over to a beautiful breakfast buffet, followed by a delicious hot breakfast, complete with fresh squeezed juice? The service was warm and friendly, quick and never overly intrusive. A perfect balance.
Here's a sample of their outstanding hospitality:
We got lost so had to call...and call....and call. They were so helpful and nice, never once losing their composure as they guided us along. (Thanks again Glenda!) Then, because we probably sounded so crazy, John met us at the gate and guided us to the parking-which was a simple but totally caretaking type of gesture. We knew we were in good hands. He gave us a complete tour so we had a good "feel" for the inn and all of it's ammenities...before we sat down to a perfect little romantic dinner - poolside. (You can order this on their website too!) Talk about enchanted evenings. They nailed it.
We had top notch Massage services (did I mention this inn has everything?) provided by Colleen, checked out the "Chicken Coop" where fresh eggs for breakfast are gathered...and strolled about the grounds, through the gym and game room. Everything is available but we decided to just take it easy. A great little hatbox with snacks in our room was perfect as were the tapas at their poolside happy hour, (it was just too beautiful to stay in the pub) and we especially enjoyed the fragrant and lovely flower arrangements we ordered directly from the inn. They've made it really easy to be totally taken care of, from our private dinner to a thorough knowledge of things to do in the area. By the way, Bill and Marianne have some great stories and touching moments to share. (Ask about Goldie, the Miracle Hen, and about the actual reconstruction and amazing millwork throughout the haven.) What fun we had.
I know this sounds a little corney, but I'm the real, scrutinizing deal. I just got married and selected this inn as a result of a referral from some other guests who also raved about every experience they had there. I (We) could go on and on, but suffice to say, it was a perfect honeymoon-and just too short. We plan to return again as it's a great getaway for innkeepers too! (Hey, this is why we felt "qualified" to write this review!) We won't wait until our anniversary...who would???
Do you really need an excuse to try a little getaway that's so transporting?
Thanks John, Glenda, Marianne and Bill, from the bottom of our hearts!
