Jackson Rancheria staff had recommended Teresa's to us and my friend's family had been going there for years so on a couple of occasions this summer we had dinner there. Bad move.
The first time, we arrived later in the evening and were greeted by the hostess with a huff. "God forbid they have to serve anyone else for the evening". It was only 7:30pm. We sat down and within 1 minute the waitor was at our table (didn't speak much English) asking us if we were ready. Of course we had to mention that fact that we had just sat down and didn't even have bread or water yet. 2 minutes later he came back and threatened to not be able to feed us because the kitchen was "waiting on us". At this point, we were beginning to think it was joke. But it wasn't. Then, when we were ready to order we asked if we could share a dinner and the waitor informed us that he would have to charge us for 2 dinners and there was "no option to share for free". Once again, is this a joke? That was our first experience.
We figured we'd give Teresa's another shot, thinking that maybe we just arrived too late the first time. This time we were seated and everything went just fine for the first 10 minutes. We were thinking "maybe they can redeem themselves". Then, our waitress arrived. She was so rude and so overbearing, I wanted to get up and walk out on the spot. She behaved liked she was mad at us because we were eating there. She slammed things on the table and interrupted when we were ordering. It was aweful. To make things worse, everytime she reached over the table to serve us, the smell of cigarettes filled the air. It was disgusting.
Since then, I have talked to some locals as well as some Bay Area folk who swear that Teresa's used to be awesome but has majorly gone down hill in the last few years.
If you like rude, hostile service and mediocre, overpriced food - go to Teresa's. If you want a real restaurant (Bay Area quality in my opinion) walk across the street to Bascaglia's. We love it and highly recommend. Avoid Teresa's at ALL costs.
