“Excellent bargain through Priceline”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2009

Very nice pool area - shade available for those unable to tolerate the sun. Nice pool area furniture, well kept grounds. Checkin was speedy and flawless. Lobby bar was very active in the evening. Starbucks located in lobby. Several options for meals including a sushi bar. Basic Marriott room with the wonderful Marriott comfort bed. Soft nice sized towels. Downside - no room refrigerator. This was not a big issue since we were only staying one night. Consider extending your stay at Priceline price if it works for your schedule. Just the use of the pool area is worth it. Not far to shopping, beach, or offsite restaurants. Near airport.

Stayed here with family for a 2 day conference. Overall this is you typical Marriott. Very nice quality of rooms and public areas. Pay for every amenity above and beyond the shampoo, soap and ice. This is an acceptable business hotel, but would not recommend it for leisure travel, simply because it is located on an office building campus.

I was in Irvine attending meetings at our corporate offices and with our clients who were located minutes from our building. The Marriott is used often by our Honolulu office due to its proximity to our corporate office which is literally right across the street. As hotels go, it's very efficient, professionally managed, and clean. Unfortunately, what impressed me the most was its lack of personality. The hotel could have been anywhere which I guess given the predominance of business travelers and airline employees is a plus since it doesn't take getting used to. The staff was courteous but not friendly (there's a difference). There was construction going on at an adjacent property but once in the hotel, the noise was nominal if not non-existent. The rooms and the common areas were extremely well kept.

  • Liked — Professionally managed, extremely clean and well kept, location, location, location.
  • Disliked — Lack of personality

I traveled to Irvine for business on weekdays for about 3 months and stayed at this hotel during that time. This property is very much in a higher class of hotels, service is very good. The room has a high quality feel, all amenities are newer and modern. The beds are very comfortable and the linens are of high thread count. My complaints would be the desks/chairs are awkward for using a laptop and the internet is expensive and not wireless. Concierge lounge is on or above par with other Marriotts. Breakfast is very complete with quality hot and cold offerings, appetizers in the evening are usually very substantial...can be a dinner substitute if you are not bashful about how much you take. The lobby always feels alive with people, there is a lobby bar and nice tables/chairs with people always milling about. Being a business traveler I can highly recommend this hotel because it can feel like home, however paying $300 a night plus parking plus internet may not be worth it on your own dime.

My husband and I stayed here two nights to get together with friends in Newport. We got a very good price on Priceline--so good, in fact, that I don't like to say anything negative. But we were waked up twice in the middle of the night by loud (obviously inebriated) people in the corridor outside our room. We don't expect this in a four star hotel, or even in a good three star hotel. I think Priceline misrepresents this Marriott as four stars. It is three at best.
That said, the check-in clerk was very polite and worked hard at getting us a room on the "quieter" side of the hotel--facing the entrance and farthest from the nearest freeway. We were on the 6th floor (there wasn't anything available on a higher floor) and were really not bothered by the very faint freeway noise that we did hear. The AC was quiet and worked well. The bed was wonderfully comfortable and the linens were really top of the line. I am very picky about this. Were it not for the noisy wake-ups, we would have slept very well. The towels were not the same quality as the linens, and seemed sightly worn. Everything was clean, shower was excellent.

  • Liked — bed and linens
  • Disliked — Noise in the middle of the night, crowded pool

I placed a bid on Priceline and received this hotel. It was a typical Marriott. The room was nice as was the bed. The location is great. the breakfast buffet was good and reasonable. I liked their workout room and it had a nice pool that semed to get a lot of use. I had no problems with this hotel and it rates a solid four stars.

spent two nights there to visit the scottish festival in costa mesa...best part -- the linens --- fabulous. hotel is upscale, nice...but the freeway noise, and the air conditioner going on and off...were a bit off-putting.
rate, $127, was reasonable. small, yet ample room size. no refrigerator...no safe...HD TV....costly parking and wi-fi...
