“lovely room...a bit noisy...reasonable rate”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2008

spent two nights there to visit the scottish festival in costa mesa...best part -- the linens --- fabulous. hotel is upscale, nice...but the freeway noise, and the air conditioner going on and off...were a bit off-putting.
rate, $127, was reasonable. small, yet ample room size. no refrigerator...no safe...HD TV....costly parking and wi-fi...

This was our second weekend stay at this hotel. This stay was even better than the first. We booked this hotel through a Priceline bid, and felt we got more than fair value for it. The room wasn't spacious, but it wasn't small either. The service from the staff was exemplary.

This hotel is a little out of the way in an office tower complex, but you are close to the 405, 55, the toll road to San Diego, and the Pacific Coast Highway. Lots of great restaurants and shopping nearby.

We would certainly stay here again!

Stayed here for a conference in February 2008 and was really pleased. My room was very nice, clean and very functional. Even though the location is right next to the freeway, there was not much noise in the room. The bed was THE most comfortable I've ever slept in! The meeting facilities were comfortable and very well organized. I ordered room service twice and found the food to be tasty and the service prompt. The hotel staff were very friendly from reception all the way to housekeeping.
My only complaint was the courtesy shuttle from the airport. There were lots of people on my flight that were going to the same hotel and after waiting 20 minutes for the shuttle and realizing that all of us wouldn't fit in the van, I opted to take a cab. The fare was less than $6.00 so no big deal, but the hotel could have been more prepared for such a large conference.
All in all a very nice stay.

  • Liked — Comfortable bed.
  • Disliked — Airport shuttle.

We stayed at this hotel for an event in Irvine. The hotel is in a business area and on the weekends everything is closed. The restaurant in the hotel isn't even open for dinner on the weekends so we had to venture out and find somewhere else to eat. The morning breakfast buffet was good though.
I was disappointed there wasn't a mini-refrigerator in our room. I thought all marriotts had those but apparently not. Also, the coffee maker is in the bathroom which I find unsanitary and gross. I don't know who'd drink out of a coffee pot/mug that has been sitting in the bathroom..?? The tv's are flat screen, however the reception is staticy so there wasn't anything impressive about it.
You can tell the hotel is old and needs updating. I probably wouldn't stay here again even though it was okay while I was there..

This hotel is in the middle of a business complex so there is pratically nothing around to walk to. The hotel is up against the 405 freeway. You will hear the road noise from the freeway unless you run your air conditioner or fan all night. Even when requesting a "quiet room", the noise comes through. The room is on the smaller side, bathroom is certainly small, but the room is clean. Got some attitude from the front desk when I asked for a quiet room and the manager's words conveyed to me that he really did not care since the hotel was booked. So when I return to Irvine at the end of the month, I'm staying at the Hilton instead. The lobby has a bar, larger open area where you can enjoy your drink, and a sushi bar which I did not try. Went for sushi in Newport Beach - California Beach Club Restaurant. All you can eat, made to order sushi for $21.95. There is a $14.00 parking fee with no in and out privileges. If you're out late, be prepared to walk in the dark if you self park. Otherwise, use the valet. This hotel is less than a mile to the airport.

I used to have to travel to Morris Plains NJ for work. The Marriott there is almost exactly like this one, except their pool is indoors. This hotel is in the middle of nowhere for dining (as far as walking is concerned), so you'll need a car or taxi for that. It is well located for businesses.
I really did not like the foam mattresses. They say you can request regular innerspring ones.
I'm trying the Newport Beach Marriott next time...

  • Liked — Good business location
  • Disliked — The beds were terrible

We stayed at the Irvine Marriott 6 nights for a major Highland Dance event. We enjoyed the hotel, and we barely had time to leave it. Most of our hotel stays have been leisure, dance, or medical related. This was the first time I stayed at a hotel for an event that caused me to seldom leave the building. Some days I never saw the sun. The Marriott stood up to this.
Our room was quite nice, comfortable beds with great linens. The bathroom was clean, modern and had all the essentials. We had a "standing" balcony, which we used every day. It was wonderful to see the outside world, even if it was nightime and the view was of the valet parking entrance. That view was actually quite lovely.
The service in the restaurants was very slow. Room service was quick. The staff was always courteous and friendly. It is apparent that this hotel is geared toward business travelers. It is located in a business park area. The pool area was fine, but not exciting. They did have a big screen near the pool that showed a movie Friday night, that was fabulous.
The hallways and lobby appeared bright and recently updated.
Plusses-great staff, clean and new looking decor
Minuses-very slow restaurant, location in a business park
