I was surprised at all the positive reviews regarding the taste and quality of the donuts. First of all, the interior of the building looks cramped inside and the open side windows are small. The donuts are left on open racks, in less than circulated air. This is a possible explanation for the staleness of the products. These substandard donuts are comparable flavor to Yum Yum or Winchell’s, providing they had been left out for two days by a heated oven. YUCK!!!
The food is less expense than other franchises serving donuts, if you don’t mind eating out of a thin, greasy, leaking brown paper lunch bag. Do yourself a favor and bring gallon-sized baggies to use around their bags, so you don’t get grease stains on your clothes or car seats.
There is no access to the inside of the building, no seats, no tables and only walk up or drive up windows, in other words, uncomfortable and inconvenient. Located on the corner of two busy streets, namely Manchester Blvd. and La Cienega Blvd., driving in and out of this parking lot can be difficult.
About the neighborhood:
This 24-hour-open, cheap donut stand is located six blocks from the Inglewood Police Station to the east and six blocks from the police training station to the west, on the same boulevard. I have never had a problem with the area. However, for people who are concerned, take a picture of the landmark from your locked car, in the parking lot or across the street at the gas station and then photo shop your image in.
English as a second language and don’t expect questions about the menu to be understood or answered. This is not a good situation for getting orders correct.
The famous t.v. and movie landmark:
It has been fun to see how the building’s big donut has been used throughout the years. The movie, “Earth Girls Are Easy”, had a car land, (hang), in the middle of the donut. A smaller model of the space shuttle was placed in a similar way. The sun during certain times of the year will align through the donut hole. If not for this famous landmark, I believe Randy’s would have gone out of business a long time ago.
