“Cold Staff, Cozy Room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012

Only the first car parks for free. All additional cars are $10.

The lobby is cold and uninviting, and the staff matches the lobby.

The room was the nicest Best Western that I've stayed in so far. I was happy with the room.

The breakfast area was spacious and the selection was pretty good... sausage, eggs, bacon, yogurt, fruit, juice, and coffee.

It's on a very, very busy, ugly street. When you first arrive, it feels unexciting because of the surroundings, but it is close to LAX, which is the appeal. I did not walk around the neighborhood at all because it felt yucky and grey. There are other hotels just as close to LAX that have shops and restaurants within walking distance. The Travelodge and Hacienda in El Segundo come to mind, but the rooms are nowhere near as nice and clean as the Best Western. The dilemma: Iffy room with restaurants/bars downstairs vs. nice room that you don't leave. Your call.

I don't think I will stay here again. It feels like "just a place to sleep." If you have a layover and want a clean room with a decent breakfast, this will work.

best staff and room and location....great value...have never had a issue that wasnt promptly addressed to full satisfaction. the free complementary breakfast is impressive, and the area is keptclean and well stocked thru out the service period..the airport shuttle is timely and reliable.

its like a home away from home!!

I stayed at this hotel in early November 2012.

When you arrive at the luggage pick up area upon arrival at LAX, you will see a counter nearby offering travellers assistance. It is staffed by volunteers. Ask the staff member to call your hotel for you, it is a free service. You are then advised as to pickup time and where to catch the shuttle

The hotel is about a 10 minute drive from LAX and slightly farther than the other airport hotels. As you move away from LAX on W. Century Blvd, the neighbourhood gets sketchier.

The check-in was smooth, but the hotel is not as nice as the photos, especially at night, most of the lights close to the lobby is dimmed.

I had a quiet room on a high floor as requested. The room was large with a sitting area. The beds and furniture are all very new and clean, but the decor is old fashion. As if decorated by a conservative older person who prefers shiny materials and gold elevator doors and lamps.

The room and bathroom were very clean.

The bedding was a thin blanket and a shiny bed cover.

There is a desk and task chair as well and free wifi. There is also a microwave and fridge. It was a very clean, functional but old fashion room.

The breakfast in the morning is as you would expect from a Best Western, there was tea, coffee, juice, yogurt, cereal, bread, waffles, eggs. Not special but does the job.

The room rate was around $98. A very reasonable price and very good value.

But I did not like the decor and the dated feel despite the new furniture. I cancelled my return trip at this hotel and booked into the Sheraton Gateway closer to LAX with better bedding, food and atmosphere. I had to pay more of course. I would stay here if I have to watch my budget though.

Room Tip: Ask for quiet room away from W. Century Blvd.

I spent 4 nights in this hotel. Booked room through Booking.com and I was extremely surprised when I saw my 70 sq meters room after spending 16 hours in United economy class. Hotel is conveniently located 5 min from LAX and 25-30 min from Santa Monica downtown and hotel staff is extremely friendly (especially shuttle bus drivers). Unfortunately there is no restaurant on site, just small dining area for serving "continental breakfast" from 4.30 am.

We spent two nights at this hotel last week and booked it mainly as it was close to the airport and had a free shuttle bus. The shuttle bus was on time and the drivers very helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The small pool was great as there was no one else using it. Had there been a crowd it would have been too small. We were suprised how small the breakfast area was and I think you would have to pick your times as it was hard to get a seat and when we finally did, we had to clean the table. Restocking items could be improved. Staff on the whole were helpful, but we did come across one who might need some further training. The area outside the hotel was a little seedy and I would be careful venturing out at night. Overall it was a good option if you want to be close to the airport and I would consider staying again.

Room Tip: The second floor rooms are on the same level as the pool.

We spent our trip's first night in this hotel when arrived in LAX. Very handy location close to airport & shuttle worked well. Friendly and helpful staff at the front desk & we enjoyed the breakfast too, even the area for the breakfast was quite modest/small. On the next day shuttle took us to the rental car company, which was one of the many in the LAX area. WiFi worked well & it was inclusive. Neighborhood around the hotel is slightly questionable, but hotel itself felt safe & was well maintained and clean. Good value.

I ended up staying here because I was slightly confused about my arrival date in LA from New Zealand since I ended up going back in time. They picked me up from LAX and I was greeted by a very friendly receptionist who informed that I was able to get the managers special which included breakfast the next morning.
My room was huge and very relaxing and within no time I had made myself at home.
The staff were so friendly and accomadating especially since i was a few minutes late checking out. I would gladly stay here again.

God Bless :)
