“Chris is the shining star at Indian Wells Resort Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2013

If you are into today's WOW hotels, this is not the place for you. Upon arrival, we were disappointed, but the retro style hotel grew on us. The price is right especially if you are not going to hang out at the hotel as your primary entertainment. We golfed 3 days at the Indian Wells Golf Resort. Chris is the bartender at Frank's Place, the bar in the hotel. He has customer service down....very gracious, personable and took great care of us. He also waited on us for the Christmas dinner served at the hotel. We enjoyed the hot tub and had it to ourselves each night. Frank De Salvo puts on a great show.....not to miss! As for check-in....the woman checking us in asked if we preferred the 1st or 2nd floor. We had no preference and she put us on the second floor. We had requested a golf view room which we got. But, when we got in the room and looked out the window, the first floor room had a nice grass lawn complete with lawn chairs. Had we known that, we would have preferred the 1st floor...she never mentioned it. Also, she failed to mention the elevator and ice machine closest to our room were out of service. The complimentary breakfast was pretty awful!!!!!!!

So true. This hotel is a great hotel, but like all things, not necessarily for everyone. We do pride ourselves on being a nice, clean hotel with amenities, entertainment and a good value for your money. Chris is a great employee and an asset to our hotel. I will make sure to pass on the great comment to him. Thank you again.

thank you for the truthful and good comments you gave us. We are constantly trying to change up our breakfast menu to please all our guests. We recently added waffles to the continental breakfast menu. We do hope you enjoyed yourself and hope you return to us when you are here in the desert.

A wonderful venue in Palm Desert. Good food and surroundings. Wonderful entertainment. This was originally built by Lucille Ball and Desni Arnaz and retains the flavor of glitz and glam. Lots of photographic memories in the hallways.

thank you for the great review of our hotel. Seems like you enjoyed walking down the hallways and seeing all the pictures and the history of the hotel. I hope you were able to catch our evening show and enjoy the songs of the great American song book. thank you again and hope to see you again.

If you are looking for a resort where you go there for 3 to 4 days and never leave the resort, this is not the place for you. If you want a nice hotel with some resort amenities and you are goimg to be going out and about going out for dinner and generally not going to be staying at resort then this fits perfectly fine. The resort i think caters to people who are into the 50s and 60s or for people who would rather spend their money on greens fees. The rooms are good, 50s style furniture but good sized. The bed was.comfortable. the fitness center is a joke. Just go for a walk. Breakfast is simple but is fine. To the idiot who said the toaster doesnt toast....there is a dial.you control. Also, yes there is a resort fee. Every resort has a resort fee so get over it. At the end of the day this place is $100 less a day that the miramonte resort next door and Id rather spend that money on a great dinner out. The location is fantastic.

Thank you for your comments. I am sure this will help people when they are making their decisions of places to stay in the desert. We are a nice hotel with great staff to cater to our guests, but you are correct when saying that guests should venture out and enjoy our area. We try to be a good, clean hotel with entertainment and value for the travelers, but guests should definitely see the area as well. thank you again.

To be able to see, hear and dance to "The Ted Herman Big Band" in the lobby
lounge of the Indian Wells Resort Hotel was a total treat and unexpected experience!
Every Sunday evening--6:00 to 8:00PM--plus thoroughly enjoyed " Frank's Place" within
the Hotel for appetizers and cocktails---great thin crust pizzas!
Complimentary dance lessons are available before the Big Band begins.
The "Big Band" also featured "Frank DiSalvo" and it was the perfect pairing.
Table 5 was the ideal location for getting right on the floor---our waiter was Ruben Ponce,
and He was excellent,
Don't go to Palm Springs and miss this rare opportunity to dance to a Big Band sound
featuring "Swing America"!
P.S. Say Hello to Larry---excellent bass player!

Seriously, this place was ridiculous. I'm so happy I booked on priceline because if I would have paid me than what I did, there might be a riot :/

The good:
Beautiful golf course view from the alright pool area. ..... Yeah, that's the good.

The bad:
Room had no hot water.
Man up front, when asked what the "resort" fee was for said wifi and breakfast. Oh! Is it a good breakfast? He said, and I quote, "there is a Mimis and an Ihop down the street." Should have known we were in trouble right there. ... so you are paying an extra $28 for a breakfast that even your own front desk doesn't endorse. .... Yeah let's get to that breakfast...
Stale muffins, gross oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, juice, coffee, bananas, English muffins, bread to make your own toast with a toaster that takes 5 years to use because it's so slow, and cereal far past it's time ....
Oh, that definitely sounds worth $28 right? Oh don't worry there is more! You will get to be hounded by staff that doesn't remember they already asked you for your breakfast ticket every 2 seconds.
The hotel is a motel. .. so far from a resort is not even funny. Next time I'm staying someplace that deserves the name resort.

Staff very helpful. Resort clean with really decent amenities. Pool very clean and well maintained. Golf course in back makes the hotel view to look spectacular in the middle of the desert. Close to downtown palm springs. Rooms very clean and spacious.

Room Tip: Ask for free breakfast at check in or half price at times.
