“Great Location and Service - A Work in Progress”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013

Used a Groupon for a deluxe room that included breakfast and a couple of beverages and stayed with wife and son in a two (2) double bed suite. Location was great and staff were very professional and attentive. In all, hotel property is beautiful and well maintained with an excellent pool area and excellent views of the golf course and mountains. It appears that the exterior of the hotel has been recently renovated and painted. Our room, (3rd floor, facing parking lot) however, while comfortable and reasonably clean was/is definitely in need of some updating. Carpet and bedding were quite shabby and air conditioner very loud. Can't actually recall the last time I saw a CRT TV in a hotel room??? In all, it was reasonable value given what we paid for the Groupon, but I would certainly be exploring other options OR check to see if other updated rooms might be available before checking in again.

Room Tip: Not sure if any rooms have been updated, but would suggest asking before booking.

Worst service ever. Stuffed four in a single room with one queen bed, paper walls, and were rude about how they "over sold".
Front desk smirked that all of palm desert was booked so"good luck finding a room within 10 miles"... The staff should be fired and banned from any and all customer service jobs save Jack in the Box,

We stayed here for tennis tournament, and all I can say is that it was adequate. $20 per day resort charge and only have a pool - this is not a resort but more of a glorified Holiday Inn. Very thin walls so we could hear people in room next door and above us. Air conditioner performed poorly. The breakfast buffet was dismal. I will never go back.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking pool rather than parking lot would be good choice.

This was the worst vacation I have ever been on. The images on the site make the hotel appear to be 4 starts. When we got there it was literally falling apart, felt like we were staying in a retirement home that hadn't been renovated since the 1950's. It smelled terrible, the sheets were disgusting, and the walls were so thin that we were up all night because we could hear everything that the people above us were doing (and they were just walking around!). We were totally shocked at how far off the hotel was from the pictures they show online--really this is a dingy motel that is falling apart. Stay somewhere else.

This is an oasis in the desert. I booked the day before and paid only $50 (plus resort fee) which was a great deal. Very posh but understated. Once owned by Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, there are photos of all the stars from that era all over the hotel. Wonderful free breakfast buffet as well. High recommend staying here.

Room Tip: Book the day before to get a great deal.

These folks were super friendly, from the check in to the cleaning lady. The breakfast was great and the whole hotel just has this calm feeling to it. Pool was perfect temp, sparkling clean. Very relaxing, and we will stay again., especially if they do Groupon.

Room Tip: The rooms facing south would be sweet to catch the morning sun

stayed as part of a package for the bnp paribas open.
was convinced from some of the reviews on yelp and trip advisor
that we would be staying in the indian wells dump.
not necessarily so.

the grounds were meticulous.

the room was clean and comfortable. bedding and carpet in good condition.
air conditioner was able to keep the room cool even with the hot temps, however, noisy.
room had old smell initially, but aired out fine, so we didn't need to pull out
the air fresheners.
there was no guide in the room to tell you exactly where things were, ie, ice, soda machines, etc. you had to go back to the solemn desk staff to get that information.
there were no snack machines that we could find, but weren't really looking.
the room was equiped with hairdryer, iron and ironing board, wall safe and mini refrigerator. typical small coffee pot. we had newer flat screen tv.
room had sliding door that opened to a small deck. we had a second floor room that had a great view of the mountains and golf course. the swimming area looked pretty nice and the water in the pool was crystal clear.
i liked the full shower vs the shower over tub arrangement.
internet was free, but somewhat slow.

there were some maintenance issues:
the drain plug in the sink was broken so you had to hold it up to
let the water drain. the lights by the beds were not working well.
the switch had a short in it so you had to push several times to get both lights on.
there was a definite "spark". we called maintenance/housekeeping.
the staff member was rude and basically told us we didn't know how to
turn the lamps on!! so forget telling them about the drain plug in the bathroom sink.

they have two computers in the lobby for quest use for free.
you can print from one computer, (great for boarding passes) but there is a charge per page.
the morning breakfast buffet was adequate but not exceptional, however there was a menu to order from for additional cost. i thought the coffee was awful, but i am very picky about that.

the desk staff with the exception of one basically seemed to want to be somewhere else. the wait staff at the free breakfast were very friendly and willing to accomodate.
housekeeping seemed to be a happier lot than the desk staff.
the bellhop was awesome and was very willing to help with luggage, directions, etc.

the shuttle to and from the tennis event was great and ran with reasonable frequency.

the web site is terrible and doesn't give much information about the facility and
amenities.

however, was reasonably priced considering the location and the fact it was a big tennis weekend. we would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: get a room facing the mountains
