“Close to Indian Wells”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

We stayed at the resort while playing in a tennis tournament at Indian Wells Tennis Garden. The location is great if you're spending time in Indian Wells, but it's a little bit of a trek to get to Palm Springs. The resort is beautiful and very well maintained. We enjoyed the tennis courts, enormous swimming pool(s), and hot tubs while there. Our breakfast at Cava and drinks at the indoor bar were both very good. Poolside lunch was just OK. Service was prompt and friendly. We were pleased with our room, but others in our group had some glitches with the AC working properly. It's a great place to stay with family or friends. If returning to Indian Wells, I'd definitely stay here again.

My family's second trip to Renaissance Esmeralda in a few years. Here's the deal - this hotel is great in a lot of ways, but just not worth the price point in my opinion.

The PROS - Rooms are nice, beds are comfortable, staff is attentive and helpful, and the pool is very kid-friendly (not a plus for all, I know). Great breakfast buffet at Cava.

THE CONS - Trash all over - in the water fountains by the pool, in the flower beds on our balcony, and in the parking lot. Crowded, pool area, cloudy, dirty water (by the end of each day) - I think one of this hotel's biggest problems is it's just too many rooms for the facilities. It just feels like a gigantic resort with too many people. I know you can't pick the crowd, but there were some sketchy people staying there that weekend - we walked off the elevator with our kids to find a drunken argument that almost erupted into a fistfight. I wouldn't expect that for $200 a night.

Overall, I would say there are better deals in the area. We've been to about ten different hotels in the Palm Springs area and this one has lost some of its appeal. It feels dated, crowded, and just not worth the money. If they added another pool designed to be quieter, with cabanas or some premium option for those who want more peace and quiet, I might return. As it is, this place feels like a cash cow that doesn't deliver. Sad...

As a returning guest, we were very sad to hear that the resort did not live up to your previous experience. Cleanliness is of utmost important to us and we have done a thorough inspection of the property to make sure it is up to our standards. We hope you will consider returning one day as we truly value your patronage and want you to have a memorable stay.

My husband and I spent our 1 year wedding anniversary here. The room was nice and the bed was comfortable. The staff was very nice. The best part of the resort was the pool and location. We spent one day relaxing at the hotel between the pool and spa, and the other day in the El Paseo shopping area. We paid extra in order to have the resort credits each night. There was no restrictions on the use of the credits. The first night we used them for a dinner at the Italian restaurant (would not recommend, nice setting, view and staff, but food was over priced and not very good). We used the rest of our credits at the spa. We ran into a booking issue however the spa staff went above and beyond to make it right. There is a great bar area in the center of the hotel and a great outdoor area with fire pits. We will return and would highly recommend.

The Renaissance Esmeralda is a beautiful property with several pools that we enjoyed without being told that they're were "adult only". Traveling with two children, it is important that they be allowed to roam without getting out of our site. This resort provided that for us.

The several fire put lounge areas are beautiful; somewhat secluded; and comfortable.

I have stayed at many resorts where you couldn't get a poolside attendant to take an order. Here, we saw the waitress walking around frequently. Without asking, she brought me a cup of ice and water, which I appreciated because I forget about the possibility of dehydration when sunbathing.

Problems with rooms; miscommunication with front desk; wrong food orders, etc. can occur at any hotel in the world (and I've stayed at some of the best of them). What defines a top notch resort is how quickly and professionally the staff and management attend to and resolve these issues. From experience, I assure you that the staff and management at this property did everything possible to guarantee that my family and I will be back again soon.

I attended a yoga conference at the resort and had a wonderful experience. The grounds, facilities and staff were welcoming and relaxed. The room (discounted for the conference) faced the open atrium and it was noisy weekend nights. There was a nice outdoor patio facing the mountains but it overlooked the main entrance where a sound system played continuously morning to night. The pool was great, the food was great and the general atmosphere made the weekend a relaxing get-away. The resort is very close to a lovely shopping district with fun shops, beautiful landscaping and many good restaurants. I will return next year.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that does not enter onto the main atrium nor overlook the main entrace, both due to n...

We recently stayed at the Esmeralda Resort for a business conference. The plus points were the staff was exceedingly friendly and helpful, the sheets were some of the softest I have ever slept in, and the ambiance was lovely. We visited the spa and while the spa was only average the massuese was great! Also the spa was very clean as was the rest of the resort.

Downside: The food was not very good, the person that checked us in lied and told me on that there were no king size beds available and when I asked for the manager suddenly she was able to find one. It was too hot to play golf.

A grand place to attend a yoga conference as it permits not only all the activities of such a conference but also provides a beautiful view. Those staying an extra day are rewarded with all the ammenities the hotel offers including a large pool, plenty of deck chairs, whirlpools and waterfall feature, and firepits for evening conversation and dining al fresco. The hotel has several good dining options, an excellent work out facility, and prompt and courteous service.
