My recent visit to this property was very disappointing.. Just a 2 day quick trip for business...
Marriott Gold Member.... requested an upgrade, and a quiet room away from any large groups, elevators, vending... Arrived very late in the evening.... My account incorrectly listed as Silver Status...no upgrade? Very long walk to the room assigned, hallways covered in loose colored feathers, and room service debris everywhere?? i knew I was in for trouble... Room condition was shabby , dented walls, long black hairs in the bathroom... TV not working.... Doors slamming and drunk people walking in the halls (1:45 a.m.) Engineering called me ... Asked me to move the bureau and try and plug in the TV...apparently a on going issue with cables coming undone? It worked.... :-)
Following day... 6:45 A M., all the mommys and daddys in the hallway with armies of small children, headed down to the buffet and pool... (Yawn).... Tried to go back to sleep, but HOUSEKEEPING, was in the hallway knocking on doors,....yelling..."HOUSEKEEPING"!!??? This was at 7:15 in the morning, at a resort hotel, on a Sat Morning?? Spoke to Front Desk, requested upgrade and new room location.... Nothing available with a pool view , and the mountain view they offered was 2 blocks from the lobby area (Very Large Property).... From my observation,,,,the hotel was very lightly booked, and I'm guessing had plenty of rooms and suites in stock?? Remember, I'm GOLD, with Marriott:-) Apparently, the 40-50 nights required to achieve this coveted status, is irrelevant to them?? Maybe it was the Package Deal they were offering?? Should it matter??
Figured I was leaving in the morning..... Ordered Room Service for breakfast.... Had to call , when it was 20 mins late?? "Sorry Sir", we're very busy today"?? Thanks...I have a plane to catch? Checked Out at the Desk, was supposed to receive a Voucher for free Companion Air Fare, and 2, $50.00, credits,,,,with the package I purchased..... Agent forgot to credit the monies due, and no voucher with receipt.... But..they didn't forget to charge the $25.00, per day..Resort Fee??
Had to call from the Airport....waited on HOLD forever, then they asked me to please call back on Monday to ask for my refund and voucher:-)??? This is a Category 5 Marriott Resort?? I loved the Indian Wells Golf Resort, where the hotel is located.... I will indeed go back to this area, but will stay with Hyatt, that also has a property there....
