“Nice resort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2010

Nice and clean rooms. Very helpful, attentive and nice staff. Attractive desert resort atmosphere.

I bid (blind) online for hotels in Palm Springs, I was hoping to get the Westin but got the Hyatt instead. It was pretty much what I was looking for in a getaway to the area:
- relaxing, pretty pool (a separate adult only pool) and resort atmosphere
- spacious, comfortable, up-to-date and clean rooms
- spa on site

You don't have to leave the resort if you don't want to - it has good dining options. Drinks are on the pricy side but the food portions are filling. If you're a wine critic, the wine by the glass selection is designed for the masses. It was the "off" season so it was pretty quiet at the resort overall.

For the record, I am not a fan of "resorts" and rarely stay at them. Most of the times that I've been to such properties, it was for business and paid for by a company. This was my first ever "out of pocket" stay at a gigantor hotel like this.

The Hyatt is nice for a quick get-away to the hot desert from L.A. We were there early/mid-week and basically had the place to ourselves. Our room was poolside and the staff was exceptional in their customer service.

The pools? Beautiful - and the top reason for choosing this location. They let you bring your own flotation devices as well. We chose to post up at the "adult" pool where they pumped Desmond Dekker era ska into the air, and we socialized with pleasant people from around the world. The cabanas were empty, so we camped out in one of them and had a lovely lunch. We were served nice potent Mojitos by David (the bartender) and he was always there at our time of need!

We didn't bother to leave the grounds because everything in Indian Wells is soooo far. Plus, getting the car our of the compound and walking in all that heat is way too much work after relaxing all day.

I have a feeling that the Hyatt's food is better than most of those over-priced Palm Springs boring steak houses, (or the mall-parking-lot restaurant garbage), in the area. The pizza is awesome and the produce is ridiculously fresh (local!!!). The pricing is about average for a place like this. We were also told that they're revamping the bar and that lots of tequila will soon flow.

Again, the staff was incredible and truly went out of their way to please us. They alone deserve five stars. If you have the opportunity to visit during the week, you'll get way more out of it. I loved the fact that no one bothered us and we were treated like adults. I don't think I'd ever go to a place like this on a weekend though. Other guests said that it get VERY crowded; even around the adult pool. But if you score a good deal, and you like huge landscaped properties, go for it.

My only regret? Not getting to the spa.

I would like to thank you for taking the time to write and tell us how wonderful your stay was and we are genuinely happy that you enjoyed yourself and our staff here at the resort. As a resort hotel we do try to cater to our guests every need and make sure they are comfortable at all times. Your only regret of not making it over to the spa sounds more like an opportunity to come back and have more fun! It’s also an excuse to come enjoy our newly renovated Agave Sunset Bar where the tequila will in fact be flowing and the excitement never wants to end especially on weekends when we have our live band performing. We hope to see you again soon. If you should have any questions please feel free to contact myself; Anthony or any of the other front office managers.

We booked "name your own price" on Priceline. We Requested a non resort property in a different area, not Indian Wells, but we were booked At Hyatt Grand Campion Resort nonetheless. When we checked in we were advised at the desk of the daily $23 RESORT FEE. We were told it is mandatory even for a quick overnight stay; even if you DO NOt use any facility on the property. Also we are told it is mentioned on Priceline's website in the FINE Print. We cannot find mention of it it anywhere on Priceline. It's not about the money; it is the BOGUS way the Priceline agents for the hotel and the Hyatt people slip it in. We had already prepaid our room rate and as the agent for the Hyatt chain, Priceline should have forwarned us of this. Nothing but a glorified hotel room, no more than 3 stars.

Went for labor day weekend looking for relaxation, sun, and romance. The adult pool does allow time away from the families with children, but it gets quite rowdy at times. The cabanas are nothing special. The in hotel dining could have been better however the amazing restaurants only minutes away make up for it. The rooms were extremely clean and well renovated. Both self parking and valet is available. Although we went on a crowded weekend, we really had our privacy. Words cannot explain how helpful the staff was. Five star service,

Place was awesome and cleanliness was A+, staff was unbelievably friendly and sincere. I really enjoyed my stay BUT....

1. Extra Resort fee of $23+tax just to use the pool? why not include in price and be done with it.
2. $10 overnight parking in the desert??? Be warned -if you leave the lot for dinner, you will come back and find the lot FULL at 10pm and be FORCED to valet at $18 overnight....IN ADDITION to the $10 you've already been charged for being in the self lot. This is STUPID and BOGUS. I had to argue with the valet man to get it comp'ed. I get the feeling if I didn't raise a stink I would have been forced to pay both parking charges for $28 to park overnight....AGAIN in the DESERT!!! This is asinine!
3. Be warned this place is not IDEAL for COUPLES. It is a family resort and nothing but kids and teenagers roaming unattended everywhere.
4. $10 per day charge for WIFI.....what again did I pay the resort fee for?????????

Count on an extra $60 per day on top of your room charge to cover WiFi, Parking, and Resort fee...and TAXES.

I would like to thank you deeply for taking the time to share your thoughts and opinions with us and while we are a family friendly resort we do try to keep all of our guests comfortable. Some of the amenities we provide to help make a stay more enjoyable are included in the resort fee of 23 dollars and include but are not limited to wireless internet, our 24 hour state of the art fitness center, the seven wonderful pools, and golf storage. We would love to include parking for all guests visiting or staying with the hotel, however, we are just not capable of catering to all vehicles, as our spaces are limited. If self-parking should ever be full and valet becomes the only option we would never want to double charge you for a spot you aren’t using and would gladly remove our self-parking charge.

We are so happy to hear that you did enjoy yourself and that you found our staff to be courteous and sincere. We hope that you choose to stay with us again the next time you’re in town and should you have any questions please feel free to contact myself or any of the other front office managers.

We had a blast! The 7 pools were perfect to escape the 110 heat! Actually, we never really felt hot, since we were planning on being in our bathing suits all day.

Our room was perfect, a king and a queen couch bed. Flat screen, dvd player, fridge, tub & shower. Clean and just what we needed to escape reality for a long weekend. It was crowded, but we expected that for Labor Day weekend.

The plusses:
-Location. We usually stay at the Renaissance Esmeralda, which in my opinion is a better hotel, and has better/cheaper food. But this was nice, none the less. Out of the hustle and bustle of downtown.
-I really liked the pool situation at the Hyatt, though. Since there were so many to choose from (1 adult pool with swim up bar, 2 tot pools, a jacuzzi, waterslide/landing pool, and 2 main pools (one cooler than the other - VERY SMART INDEED), there were always available lounge chairs. Again, remember this was Labor Day weekend.
-The waterslide, cheap flotation devices for sale, lots of activities by the pool for guests, free popsicles for the kids, free water/ice stations everywhere, etc...
-The service was pleasant, and prompt (brought us a DVD player, extra comforter and bed rails within 10 mins of requesting them).
-The room was quiet, clean and the bed was awesome! The air conditioner worked perfectly, and the water pressure was great.
-Early check in (noon), and late check out (1:30pm) on a holiday weekend. Nice!
-They had complimentary mountain bikes to bike the many paths on the property. Lots of kids were doing this.

The minuses:
-Fees: I'd read about the extra fees: "hotel fee" of $23/night, in addition to the $10 self park fee per night. I didn't expect the random $2.30 tax each day, nor did ever fully understand what it was for. So the great price I got was actually $35 higher per night. I would have stayed at Renaissance Esmeralda had I really thought about it, but I also wanted to try something new, and the waterslide was a seller for entertaining my my 14 year old daughter.
-Dining (mediocre and expensive) Lentana restaurant. Limited menu, very overpriced. Said that it was 4 star dining. I give it 2. 2 adult dinners, 2 glasses of wine, and 1 kids meal came to $120.00. Slow service. Room service (breakfast): crab cake benedict (just ok for $25), eggs over medium (overcooked), kids pancakes, and kids scrambled eggs, a side of bacon and OJ's all around came to $100! Should have taken the drive to IHOP 2 miles away. It would have tasted better and cost around $40 tops!
We learned our lesson fast, and went to the store for sandwich fixins and snacks! We also went to our favorite local place (Fisherman's Market & Grill in La Quinta). Next time we'll dine in town both nights. We've been wanting to try LG's or the Chop House anyways.
-Cabana rental: I rented a cabana for the full-day on Sunday as it was Labor Day weekend for $50. It was a TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY! The tent was HOT, and too far away from the pool to enjoy. There was no breeze, and it seemed a little ridiculous to have a TV at the pool anyways. I was mainly worried about space and too much sun/heat. But as it turned out we didn't even use it since we found pool front seats with umbrellas and a breeze! Live and learn.

Overall, this is a very family friendly hotel. Also, it's great for couples, as they have their own pool to escape the kids!

My wife and I stayed here for 3 days over Labor Day weekend. We arrived at 11 AM on Saturday and a room was ready for us and we were very happy to be able to check in early. We had booked the room through Priceline and were given a King Suite on the 3rd floor that overlooked the pool.

The room was very spacious. It had a step-down family room-type area with a desk below the bed and dresser area. The flat screen TV was between both areas with a swivel base that could angle to either area. There was no HD on the TV and reception was rather poor - static and blur issues but not that big a deal. The bathroom was also very large. There was a patio area but since it was around 112 degrees outside we didn't spend any time out there.

There are 7 pools, most of them great for families. They were packed the entire time we were there. There is also an adult pool where we spent our time. The water was a bit murky but felt great since it was so hot outside. There was also a rather large hot tub.

The bed was very comfortable and the AC kept the room nice and cool. It was a great break on a holiday weekend and we had a very comfortable stay.
