“Fantastic Family Vacation Spot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2013

Had a great time at the Hyatt with 2 families with kids aged 6 and under, and we all loved it! Stayed in a ground floor pool view room- which means you have a view of the fence around the pool. There are activities for the kids, including free rental bikes of all sizes (even toddler sized bikes with training wheels). Crafts, movie night in the pool, and Camp Hyatt for the kids. This place feels very much geared toward families, and I might have been disappointed if I was on a vacation without children. We did not partake in any of the activities, and spent all of our time at the pool and waterslide which everyone loved! There are 6 pools that I counted, and although they are not huge pools- none of them were too crowded. It would be nice if there were pictures of all all the pools on the hotel website, as we were nervous that they would be sub-par, but they were great. The hotel was not very crowded, although there was a college function and lots of loud, drunken students everywhere. The hallways were loud and the adult pool was rumored to be louder and wilder than the family pool, because of this. I think hotel staff might be a little too tolerant of their antics, as I heard Security laughing at them screaming in the hall and telling someone not to worry, that they'd be gone on Sunday. Our package included breakfast at Lantana (and kids 5 and under eat free!) which was a decent buffet for free. Service poolside was not good. They forgot our food once, and drinks took 20 minutes, and you could hear several people complaining about the same issue and getting comped for their troubles. Overall, great weekend-very family friendly hotel, we will return.

My family and I travel to the Palm Desert area several times a year. The past few times, we've stayed at the Renaissance Esmeralda, which declined a little bit in terms of our satisfaction each time we've stayed, so we were ready to try something different this time. We chose the Renaissance hotel previously because it has a beach entry pool which was great before my child was a strong swimmer. Since my child can swim well now, we returned to the Hyatt Regency Indian Wells for our most recent trip and I am so glad that we did.

The resort is in a very peaceful setting. The interior of the hotel is beautiful, having recently undergone a renovation, and the salt water pools were clean and refreshing (and where we spent most of our time).

Our standard double queen room with a view of the pool area was very spacious and I loved the separate shower and tub - feels much more luxurious than a combo.

The room was very clean and we were impressed to see people actually vacuuming the hallway corners with a special vacuum, as well as steam cleaning the room carpets.

Above all of the other great things about our stay, I feel compelled to compliment the hotel on the superior level of service provided by the staff.

We were greeted upon check in at the front desk by Melody, whose warm personality and professionalism set the tone for our terrific trip. She was genuinely friendly, helpful and clearly interested in seeing that we enjoy are stay.

At the Lantana restaurant, we had the pleasure of having Jason as our server. He, too, made us feel genuinely welcome, with the perfect balance of friendliness and formality.

There was no staff member we encountered who was less than pleasant and helpful- it was an excellent experience. I don't know how the hotel ensures this, but it really seemed to me as if everyone we met was very happy working there and committed to making sure the guests of the hotel were comfortable and well taken care of.

Highly recommend this hotel for families or for anyone looking for a peaceful getaway.
We will be back for sure!

Perhaps one shouldn't write a Review when one is peeved. ... However ....
The hotel is big and bland and boring and functional and obviously constructed to cope with
conferences, big business get-togethers and mega functions. As much attention to detail was put into this as neutering a frog, despite the exotic Andalusian palmed entrance.
The rooms are beige, the curtains are beige and almost all else too.
There is a Mini bar .. Empty, a desk to work on and a large bathroom with only one basin, none of which are ideal if you are on a golfing break with a time schedule. The Queen beds are comfy but the pillows are lumpy. It took a while to realise that the low vibrating hum was not coming from the local airfield but in fact the air-conditioning and that even in the off position it took a time to silence.
Despite being in the Desert no bottled water is provided in the rooms. The small convenience store in the hotel Lobby sells a small bottle at over 3 dollars. Get in the car and drive to the local CVS a few blocks away where you can buy 24 bottles of bottled water for the same price.
Hot and tired after an arduous game of Golf on the truly beautiful, scenic Course, where using an entire battery of the camera is easy to do, it is a pleasure to go down to the Lantana Restaurant where prices are acceptable and the food is good. The house wine is very drinkable and as no one there seems to know how to mix a cocktail, a safer bet.
Becoming a Gold Member apparently afforded one an upgrade if available at a low cost and a good view and a promise of a free daily newspaper.. Read on. .. We paid the upgrade which did at least entitle us not to be on ground level, but view. .. Never saw it and the free newspaper, well despite being offered a choice of paper on each occasion (5 in total) that we complained to the Front Desk, it never appeared. Why make an unsolicited offer to what you cannot deliver ?
Indian Wells is hot, really hot but if you can stand that and want to play golf on a scenically gorgeous Course then play Indian Wells. If you just want somewhere to lay your head at night then book the Hyatt, but if you are expecting a Resort Holiday and to spend some "down time" then perhaps check out somewhere else.

Room Tip: Best to ask for an "upgrade" as even these rooms are pretty dire.

Hotel rooms are nice - reminiscent of the Venetian in Vegas. Service is good, location is good, and grounds are pleasant, but if you're a Coachella Valley visitor with a pool day in mind, this is not the place. A bazillion kids running around the main pool (and I am pro-kid - I'm talking little ones whose parents are in packs and not watching them and nowhere to sit down) and a scene at the adult pool that is no Marriott or Westin. It's a small adult pool that had a layer of sunscreen floating on the top, wet towels laid out along the edges of the pool, and a tummy-tucked crowd doing shots IN the pool. I love my Palm Springs pool days, so I wouldn't go back here-

My husband and i just returned from a 2 night memorial weekend stay at the hyatt regency indian wells. Honestly we booked this hotel because it was the only hotel available last minute. We had planned on staying at a vacation rental that didn't work out and in an effort to salvage the weekend we booked with hyatt.

Upon arriving the staff was extremely friendly! Check-in was a breeze as was self-parking. There is a $10 fee for self parking (I'm not sure if this is per day or per time you exit and enter the parking lot). Our king room was spacious, the beds were comfortable and we enjoyed spending some time on the balcony overlooking the golf course.

We mostly hung out at the adult pool. It was wonderful! Not huge but big enough to splash around in and stay cool while enjoying a tasty drink. All of the pool chairs are padded and facing the pool so it was easy to people watch. The crowd was from mid-20's to mid-60's and everyone seemed to just want to relax and enjoy the rays. The pool had an OK band and delicious food.

Speaking of food, everything we ate at the hotel was delicious! If you want to be low key, I definitely recommend the room service! It is a little pricey ($15 - $40) depending on what you get but at least you won't be disappointed - at least we weren't.

My only complaints were really with the neighbors. They were loud walking to and from their rooms but once they were inside their rooms we could no longer hear them. Also, there were a lot of kids around but according to the staff memorial weekend is a big holiday for families and in the summer months there are hardly any. To be fair, the only times we really noticed the kids were while walking through the normal pool to the adult pool and during breakfast.

Would recommend this place for a little R&R.

Room Tip: Golf course rooms have a nice view and are quieter.

We stayed at this property for 4 nights and 5 days. It was perfect! Partly because it was Before the weekend crowd rolled in for memorial day. This hotel is Family Friendly they advertise as such and cater to such. If you are coming here looking for total quiet, and an atomosphere that doesn't cater to children this may not be the hotel for you. They after all have Camp Hyatt on property, a children's craft in the morning and game in the afternoon as well as movies around the pool on Friday evenings. All geared towards families. They have 7 pools, I've read some reviews that state there are 2...not sure if people cannot count or what but, there is a pool with a water slide, a smaller shallow children's pool in back of that, then a ribbon pool, 2 larger family pools and then a oval pool towards the back. Behind that is the 1 adult pool. They do have cabana rentals that include a TV we didn't rent this, but we did spend a lot of time at the pools, the staff was friendly always had clean towels ready, blew up our floaties (that we purchased at big 5). We were able to order food from the RoadRunner Cafe and one day we ate around the pool, the other at the cafe. Food was good, service was friendly. The Citrus market was nice we didn't purchased anything but coffee there. Lantana was great the food was good and they once again catered to the children. The Lounge was also great they had live music and kids were allowed in until 9 pm. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. Our room was clean serviced just as expected. When we arrived we were able to get an early check in and they even upgraded our room for no extra charge. I have to say overall it was an excellent stay and we would definetly return and recommend to family & friends. The only thing I don't understand is all the complaing from people. IF you book on a busy weekend or holiday it's going to be busy and you need to realize the service is going to be differnt as they are trying to making 1,000 plus people happy. We stayed when they were at 15% capacity and were treated great!! So if you can book during a week/off season you will not be disappointed!

Everything about this hotel is excellent. The service, rooms, food, pool. From the moment you check in until you check out you are very well taken care of. I will definitely return here anytime I'm in the Palm Springs area. A truly superb establishment.
