We were staying in the hotel and decided to dine here on evening. The location and ambience was great; the view of the lake and fountain glowing blue in the dark set the scene for the evening. Service was professional (not snooty) and friendly. We declined the offer of a cocktail to start us off whilst we perused the menus but then elected to take a glass of champagne with our appetisers.
To begin we were brought an amuse bouche, a little plate of raviolli, courtesy of the chef. Then our choices of appetisers were spinach al tangerino, with smoked pancetta, pecans and a warm tangerine dressing and carpaccio di salmone. This was delicious and a decent portion size. This was followed by a palate cleansing sorbet. Our entrees were a delicious grilled, organic chicken and the bone-in rib eye and a fine steak it was too. the chicken also drew praise. We opted for wines by the glass, with me selecting a large glass of merlot. Unfortunately, I can't remember the label, but it was worthy of a second glass.
To follow, we both elected to have the chocolate soufflé with olive oil iced cream - an outstanding combination and choice. We were expecting small cup sized portions, but no, these were big dishes. You could have shared one between two, but trust me, it was so good, you wouldn't want to. With this I had a glass of my favourite dessert wine: Elysium, black muscat, whilst my partner had a tasty glass of chocolate wine.
We finished off with cappucino coffees, served with a selection of creams, sugars and chocolates to add to the mix. With a complimentary glass of limoncello liqueur to bring the meal to a close we were fully sated.
The cost was in the region of $250, plus tip. For what we had, both in terms of food and drink, in service and ambience, I thought this was great value. Highly recommended.
