Idyllwild is one of those treasures that you need not look far to find.
This mile-high enclave provides plenty for a family getaway weekend or a romantic tryst for two. The B and Bs are wonderful with Creekstone Inn and Strawberry Creek Inn topping the list. There are enough great restraunts, shops, and antique venues to satiate any need. Standing atop the second floor of The Fort (sorry, you must make the trip to find out what The Fort is) gives a panoramic view of the square and the comings and goings of all the folks visiting the towm. Plus, the shops are stocked with great ideas for gifts to bestow on friends and loved ones. And you just might find that perfect item you just can't live without. The restraunts offer a wonderful variety from Mexican and Chinese to Umas, with a bakery that will put you in heaven. There's also German and Italian and, The Gastrognome. The latter of which is a culinary delight. From a simple meal to a gourmet delicacy, this is a must do. The movie theater plays a current offering and is a great place to sit and enjoy the entertainment without feeling you are in one of the huge corporate theaters being shutled along like cattle. This is laid back little town America. By the end of your stay you will have that feeling we all get when we have been to a special place. It's better known as the "I don't want to leave" syndrome. My suggestion is call your boss and let him or her know you will be back in a couple of days and cozy up for a bit longer. Work will always be there, but the joy of a relaxing romantic weekend will not.
