The lobby is beige, the staff wear beige, the corridoors are beige - rooms Beige BEIGE BEIGE BEIGE and more beige. When you enter this hotel you notice the weird Greek furnature which is loud and over the top for such a non over the top property. The rooms are just dated, tired, worn. Great housekeeping I must say but that is where the goodness ends. Move on!

“Nice Clean Hotel”

I stayed at the Hotel Huntington Beach for 5 nights in Jan 2008. I did not find any problems with the hotel. I stayed on the 6th floor. Check in went extremely fast without any problems. The room was very clean. The bed was VERY comfortable and the lined very nice. The carpet is worn throughout the hotel and in need of replacing. But it was vacuumed daily. The bathroom was kept clean. There is some paint chipping and maybe some grout stained but it is not a 5 star hotel either. For the price it is nice 3 star hotel. The exercise room is definitely in need of work though. It has 2 recumbent bikes and some miss matched dumbbells. I never did workout there. The hotel does have free passes to the Balley’s gym about 2 miles south. I don’t think anyone had informed the front desk or Balley’s about this. The front desk did find some passes once we showed them their statement about the gym on their website. Then the gym didn’t have a clue either, but a phone call to the hotel cleared up the matter and we were good to go for the remainder of the week. I never tried the restaurant, which has a breakfast buffet for $13. The lounge was pretty quiet all week, but they did have appetizers for happy hour.
The location of the hotel is superb though. There is a huge shopping center across the street with a theater, many chain stores and restaurants. Across the street to the west is the ‘Old World Village’. This is a German themed village with authentic bars, restaurants and shops. This is where I spent most of my evenings watching the bowl games. Parking is free and ample. It is still a couple miles to the beach from the hotel but it is a great location if you are in town for business. I would recommend the hotel and stay here again.

This hotel has seen better days . Bathroom tiles were broken and cracked with much mildue in the grouts . Very limited TV selections - but overpriced movies are available , " free wireless internet " is almost impossable to connect to - but pay computers are available in the lobby . Lights in the room were of such low wattage it was difficult to read . I got the feeling that managment was milking this hotel for all it could get . I would never stay again nor would I recommend it to anyone .

Stayed here Aug 2007. Apparently this is a former Holiday Inn built 30 years ago and NOT CLEANED OR UPDATED IN 30 YEARS! The first N/S room we were issued reeked badly of smoke, had stained, outdated wallpaper, ratty and worn bedcoverings, torn adn stained carpet of an unknown original color. "Phillip" at the front desk was polite and professional and issued us a second room on a different floor. Unfortunately that room was in the same worn, condition and smelled dirty rather than smoky. "Phillip" issued us a third room on fourth floor which was somewhat updated to a 1980s style but was similarly worn and smelled of mildew. Since we knew all other hotels in the area were booked, we accepted this room. Backing up to our arrival: Despite providing the staff with our Travelocity Trip ID#, the staff didn't have our reservation and put the burden on us to prove we had a reservation. The staff was professional and polite, but not what I would term 'helpful' The public areas are very badly in need of cleaning and maintenance, if not complete renovation. All public areas we saw had torn, worn carpeting, chipped paint on door moldings, etc. The fitness areas weight machine was broken, all free weights were missing except the 50 lb. weights (which were apparently too big for someone to steal); therefore making the fitness center not usable and of no value. After reviewing Travelocity's star rating system criteria this hotel fails in all areas we encountered.

“An education my 9 year old didn't need!”

Hotel Huntington Beach

Jul 25, 2007
3/3 found this review helpful

I stayed at this hotel (with my 9 year old daughter and niece) as part of a large Irish dance group who had an all day competition the next day. The hotel first demonstrated a complete lack of good judgment when they placed us in a room surrounded by rowdy young adults (the pink hair was a pretty good clue as to their potential behavior). They proceeded to get drunk and spent the entire night yelling down the halls, slamming doors, and banging headboards (with exaggerated sound effects to thank us for our requests for quiet). I was on the phone to security every 1-2 hours, which was an absolutely worthless effort. My daughter was woken up every couple of hours (which did impact her next day's performance) and I never slept at all. The hotel's apology consisted of a 50% discount, so I actually paid something for a night of torture and a terrible education for my daughter. I might as well have stayed in a dive motel in Venice Beach. I would NEVER stay here again as the entire experience, from booking to leaving, was totally unprofessional.
